XIII-III is going to happen. Final Fantasy is now a George Lucas-esque franchise, only there to make money and hate on its' fans even more with every iteration. I bought XIII-2, but after hearing how it ended I returned it. I loved XII, I liked XIII, but until major changes are made I'm not playing FF again.

I hope they just call Versus XIII something else and say 'we're the real FNC universe right here' because it's true since the Universe's Writer is writing for Versus XIII, not XIII or XIII-2, which were both by Toriyama, aka 'it's okay if everything is insane.'

I would love to get into a bigger discussion about Final Fantasy (and my thoughts on the franchise), but that would be for another topic. I just don't see any evidence for a XIII-3. From beating the game and seeing all of it's endings, reading remarks from the creator saying that the ending is referring to DLC, and seeing how mediocre the sales of XIII-2 have been so far.....I just don't see a XIII-3 happening. They very well could make one, because the reason why XIII-2 was made is because they didn't have to spend time creating the battle system (which apparently was the bulk of the development for XIII), and development wouldn't cost as much due to having assets created for XIII. So yeah, theoretically they could make XIII-3 and be like "Hey we changed it again...hope you guys like it this time. We promise it's a game for the fans now"... but XIII's sales were ok, they weren't anything spectacular by any stretch, and XIII-2 has been doing even worse. I can't see them making a sequel to that and expect it to be a success.

XIII-2 was a cash grab, plain and simple. The ending of it also leads me, as well as others to believe that another game is coming; this also comes with the fact that finalfantasyXIII-3.com was registered as a domain by Square Enix. They said it was just for covering their asses of course, but the same happened with XIII-2, and well, here we are. If they're going to charge $10-$15 for the game's real ending as DLC that's just a low blow to anyone who even remotely cared about the series. Also, the story in XIII-2 has too many unanswered questions for 1 or 2 simple DLC packs.

Hmm, I didn't know about the domain name grabs, so that does point more in the favor of a XIII-3. Though, honestly, I didn't feel like there was a huge amount of questions that needed answering in the story of XIII-2. The ending is the only thing that brought up questions (atleast to me), and I can easily see them settling that with DLC. Do I think that would be a low blow? Yes, but I feel jipped with every single dlc that they have planned for the game. It's completely obvious that everything was held back from the game purposefully (i.e.*goes to blackjack table in Serendipity" "This feature to be unlocked with future dlc", and if you want to play as lightning, who is on the cover of the game and in all the trailers for the game, you have to purchase DLC...how awesome)

Also, Square Enix, had several moments where they were like "Well, we're not making a XIII-2, but if we wanted to we could make it quickly and improve on things fans wanted in the first one". Which made it fairly obvious they were working on it. So far the only talk of XIII-3 has been just statements that it's not coming and that the ending in XIII-2 is referring to DLC that they are currently working on, but yeah I can completely see it happening because it is in the realm of possibility. I just don't think it will.

I'll just say something quick about the above topic I unintentionally started and leave it at that, then we can get this topic back on track.

I actually don't care if we get DLC that adds to the story, or a XIII-3, I just hope the XIII universe story gets a proper ending and doesn't end up like Prince of Persia 2008 (story goes unresolved for years with no signs the developers even care anymore). I also enjoyed XIII-2 (recently got all the paradox endings), and am looking forward to the DLC episodes starring Sazh, Hope, Snow, and Lightning (I look at it like this: this doesn't seem much different than the DLC games like Fallout 3 and New Vegas get, so I'm not really bugged that much).

I reckon Ninja Gaiden on the 3DS will be revealed at E3, if not then the game is most likely cancelled.

I'd like this:

Nintendo 3DS:

-Paper Mario trailer + release date
-Animal Crossing trailer + release date
-Luigi's Mansion 2 trailer + release date
-Kingdom Hearts 3D release date
-Official name of the 2D Mario game + trailer
-Donkey Kong Country Returns 2 announced (I swear if they'd do a DKCR2 I'd cry manly tears of joy)
-Short trailer of the new Zelda game

Nintendo Wii:

-Talks of how it brought in fresh faces to gaming and recapping its history leading up to Wii U
-Pandora's Tower announced for America
-Dragon Quest Collection announced for America

Nintendo Wii U:

-New features shown off
-Launch titles revealed
-Release date
-Price
-Small revealings of games coming out shortly after launch (up to 1 year after maybe?)

Obviously not all of these will happen but they're things I'm hoping for.

I doubt it'll take that long for us to get Kingdom Hearts 3D. They're working on localization as we speak. I could see a July/August release at the latest myself.

Pikmin 3 as a Wii U launch title would be nice, but part of me says to not expect that. We didn't even get a trailer last year so that kind of gives me the impression that they're not too far along in development. Kind of sad because apparently it was going to be a Wii game but is being ported to Wii U so you'd think they'd have something to show us. But alas.

And as much as I'd love them to make note of Black and White 2 its been many years since Pokemon got referenced at E3. I think the most we can expect is box art/mini trailer at GDC. For release date I'd stick to Nintendo Direct and Nintendo Power. But this is something that I'm hoping I'm wrong on. Though I'd also love them to confirm Pokemon x Nobunaga's Ambition for America.

Chance of 3D Mario at e3?

Postby FatFace83 » 01 May 2012 19:51

We know NSMB2 is coming out this year and another side-scroller Mario will be shown for the Wii U at e3 and it will be based on last years tech demo of NSMB Mii. But will there be a chance of a 3D Mario title shown? Or will it be too soon since the 3D team only finished up on Super Mario 3D Land late last year? Now I know many will moan and say there is too much Mario but I badly want to see how great a fully 3D Mario title would look in HD, with all the fancy new tech features inside the Wii U and new shaders and such, we saw how fantastic Zelda could look last year so I'd love to see how Mario would look. And going by Mario titles of the past, the 3D games, they always went hand in hand with the new systems. Galaxy 1 & 2 looked fantastic enough so I'm curious to how beautiful Mario can go next.

Because Yoshiaki Koizumi, director of Super Mario 3D Land, had already confirmed last summer that a Super Mario game was in the works for the Wii U, I would like to believe that there is a reasonable possibility that this year's E3 will showcase this game that he was talking about, which may be the next 3D Mario adventure game.

I think there's a pretty good chance they'll show something off this E3. If they don't announce a new 3d Mario this year, then I can almost guarantee it'll be announced at next year's E3.

Mario game to appear at E3 2012: 99.99%

3D Mario game resembling something like Galaxy or 64: A good 30%

Remember: At least 90% all of statistics are made up on the spot.

Spoiler:
But either way Patcher will say that Nintendo is DOOOOOMMMED!

He probably has the mindset that Super Mario World was Super Mario Bros. 4 in Japan so that, technically speaking, the next mario game would be Super Mario 5.

Even though in Japan Mario World was Mario 4 (based off of recent things said) I don't believe Nintendo still considers it to be Mario 4....so if they continue the main Super Mario series the next one will be 4.

As for E3, I think that....
Games
- Retro is making a Starfox game for the Wii U
- A new Metroid game is coming. I'm thinking 3DS
- Eternal Darkness 2 Wii U
- I know that they haven't really been announcing portable Zelda titles at E3, but I really think that the next Zelda 3DS title will be revealed at this E3
- The super mario bros game that is being talked about for the Wii U will be shown
- We'll see more on New Super Mario Bros 2 for the 3DS
- I think there is a possibility that we'll see what Monolith Soft has been working on, and I think its for the Wii U.

System Stuff
- The Wii U system will be able to handle another UPad, but it won't be able to connect more then 2 at one time.
- Wii U will have a Nintendo spin on achievements/trophies. I don't think it would work the same was as the other two.
- A 3DS with a Circle Pad Pro will be able to double as a Upad for the Wii U
- Because retail games will be available on the Wii U's "eshop" (or whatever it will be called) from day one. I believe that it will also have access to all of the Wii's downloadable titles from day one.

Online
- Online multiplayer isn't a problem anymore
- You'll be able to easily access your friends list at any time and you'll be able to easily send and receive messages to them
- You'll be able to cross game chat with your friends. (there's no reason the Wii U won't have this.... The reason why PS3 doesn't is because it doesn't have enough RAM. I don't think that will be an issue with the Wii U)
- Nintendo will also have a stronger push for online multiplayer. Any game that features multiplayer, will allow you to play online with your friends as well as play couch co op with someone.

The spoiler tag describes a dream I had. Read it if you want.
Spoiler:
[Dream Time bonus: I had a dream that I was able to interview Reggie and ask him a couple things about the Wii U. I asked him many things about the system, but unfortunately I don't remember all the details from the dream. One thing that I want to bring up here for future reference....just in case it ends up being true (but probably wont because it's a dream) is that he said that there would be achievements on the system, and he showed me how it would work. I don't remember all the details....but from doing things within games players would get rupees, and there is something that happens after you collect certain amounts of rupees. I don't remember what it was.....but for future reference, If Nintendo has Achievements....and if it's Rupees.... I dreamed it, and you should all be afraid of my abilities :P ]

(2)Super Mario Sunshine
(3)Super Mario Galaxy
(4)Super Mario Galaxy 2
(5)Super Mario 5

Okay guys, not so much a prediction, but this:

When the show seems over the lights dim down, and this song comes on. After playing a while a 5 minute trailer of Mother 4 comes on, imagine it in your head with the music.

GLORIOUS!

Reaction is E3 2004 Twilight Princess-like.

No crying 'til the end.
