By making COMMANDS (Which is what I'm talking about) geared more towards a fighting game, you're going to confuse your audience very quickly. This is going to lead to a lot of second-hand sales and a lot of unhappy customers and businessmen.
Well not really actually. In your comment you made the remark that stated that they (those at sony making the game) were in fact "missing the 'point' of smash" to which I stated in as many words above might be for a reason. They're not going after the average smash player so much as they're going after the competitive smash player who feels disenfranchised with the series after Brawl. And really thats the point that I was making in the comments above. The focus on combat and balance over crazy level design and item selections. The drab back grounds lack of overpowered items, are all things competitive players are taking out of the game when they limit stages and completely turn off item spawns. This game is more tame in comparison to smash and as such seems to be targeting itself right at hardcore competative smash fans. However many or few that exist.
I couldn't care less about how the game sells or how its recieved critically. To me the existence of this game gives competitive smash players an avenue to exit the smash series and pick this game up as a replacement. If it succeeds brilliantly in that manner it can only be a win-win situation as the complainers finale have the game that they wanted since melee, and we get to be rid of the whining and incessant nagging that calls for 'hardcore' prioritzing of the Smash franchise.
The brawl series sold 10 million copies and most if not the overwhelming majority of those players where casual players picking up the game to duke it out using their favorite character amongst nintendos flagship franchises (the exact reasoning you used above in point A). If the more comeptitve players move onto PSA:Battle Royale its not gonna put much of a dent into the user base of Smash players, I just dont see why so many people are angered or feel threatened by its existence. Sure its unoriginal but never was there an out cry against this sort of thing when CN had its version, or TMNT, or Jump Super/Ultimate Stars. Why start now? Because its Sony thats doing it? Makes no sense unless maybe people truly ARE threatened by Sony trying to make a game capable of competing with smash in the same genre.
