Street Fighter IV online question

Postby littleman00 » 24 Feb 2009 16:29

From what I understand, after playing the game for some time now, is that the online mode consists of ranked or player matches against people you are randomly paired up with. Sure, you can set some parameters, but for the most part, you can't search for a specific person. What if a friend is online and I want to challenge them to a match, can I do that? Haven't figured that out yet (if it's even possible).

Its possible. I believe you start a game then invite them to a match. They have to be on your friend list though.

You can create a lobby and invite your friend to play against (the invite option is only in Player Matches, though). So yeah, but the person you challenge has to be on your friend list like Zidane said.

But unless you are really good at this game, be prepared to get your butt kicked all over the screen. Ive played 12 matches and have only won 2 (barely), and I dont consider myself bad at the game... but man it seems like everyone online is just insanely good.

Oh, and I suggest getting an arcade controller. That would help immensely! I planned to pick one up the day I got the game but no retailers had them so Im going to have to order one online.

Do you play anyone who has the same skill as you?

Thanks for the info, guys. Haven't been able to try the 'invite' method, but will as soon as I can. And a thought on the controllers: I was playing SFIV at the San Francisco WonderCon today, and I used the arcade-style sticks. While they feel nice, they kept shifting during play, forcing me to re-position them so they won't fall of the stand that was set up. Anyone try that Sega Saturn-esque controller?
