Left 4 Dead

Postby littleman00 » 21 Jul 2008 20:06

I can't wait to play this game, but I don't know what platform to get it on. I think fps games play better on the PC , but I feel the community is getting better on the consoles. Left 4 Dead is running on old Half-life 2 tech, and my PC is decent enough to run Orange Box on medium settings, so I initially wanted to get the game on PC, but I am now considering the 360 version. Thoughts anyone?

i'll get it on pc, because these kind of shooter dont work good for me on consoles.
its designed to be a pc-shooter, its fast and stuff. i dont see how you can play it comfortably with a gamepad.

anyway, its one of my most-wanted games on the pc and i cant wait to get my hands on it.

Im getting it for 360 simply because my PC isnt made for gaming. But even if it was I would still buy it for 360 because Ive never been a PC gamer.

I think I'm probably getting it for the PC, just because of the controls. I do own CoD4 on both PC and 360, and I do play it more on 360, but only because my PC has trouble running that game. Left 4 Dead doesn't seem too graphics intensive (again, it is using the old Source Engine), so my PC should be OK with it. I've been considering some PC upgrades sometime later this year, so maybe this game will make me get those upgrades.

I see from one of your other posts that you bought this for PC. I would have too except that I don't bother keeping my PC that up to date anymore, and I like buying games that I know will "just work". Plus I like playing on my TV much more than playing on a monitor.

L4D is great, though. And it actually controls pretty decently for a console shooter. I hate playing shooters with a gamepad, and I do miss the precision of a mouse, but L4D controls pretty well.

I was actually about to buy the game on 360 up until the last minute, when I was listening to a podcast (either IGN or 1up, I can't remember) and they mentioned that official dlc on the 360 most likely won't be cheap, but Valve has been very generous with their PC audience. Plus, user-created mods are going to show up real fast on PC. I do have some connection issues with the PC version, but that'll probably get patched and my PC mic finally works now, so I can use my headset for voice chat.

A friend of mine did get it on 360 and It's good too; and we both thought that L4D with CoD4 controls would've been almost perfect.

Yeah, the lack of (free) DLC on the 360 sucks. Still waiting on the TF2 updates from Valve.

I play it at work and have it on my 360 and its great on both. I have more fun on my 360. Its fast pace and the controls are great. so it chops down to where you wanna play it on.
