I'm going to be really angry if Strikers doesn't get the treatment in the US. I'm been wanting that game for a while now but the last time I checked, the prices were ridiculous on Amazon and eBay.

As a side note: I finally got around to listening to last weekend's podcast tonight and the crew mentioned how surprised they were that the Wii didn't have the "Player Select" series yet. Then, here we are, Nintendo confirms it.

Even if it's late it's still good news and especially good for future Wii owners such as myself. I've wanted to play Twilight Princess ever since I heard about it in GMR magazine but then I did my gamer hiatus thing but that's a story for another time. Oh and I'll definitely get Super Mario Galaxy if or when it's a part of the lineup.

Isn't it supposed to come out at May 15th? I heard stories of people trying to buy them but then the register refused to sell it due to it being too early.

I agree, it's about a year too late for this, but better late than never. So far the only Select title I'm interested in, that I don't already own, is Animal Crossing.

That Select box artwork is pretty classy. Remember the horrible lime green cases for the Playstation Greatest Hits line?

That's all that was ever announced. I can understand being disappointed with the selection, but not because you went to the store and saw it was "only" those games.

In continuation with the Club Nintendo registration - I contacted Nintendo yesterday and here's the response:
Nintendo Rep Shane wrote:Hello,

Thank you for writing. After looking into this further, it appears that the Nintendo Select titles should be eligible for Club Nintendo Coins. Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

Sincerely,

Nintendo of America Inc.
Shane O'Neil

Not sure about "Intend to Buy" for extra coins or all that stuff but c'mon 50 coins for a $20 game is not a bad deal.

Just saw an ad for them here. A little expensive for a 'budget' line. £19. There are newer games on other systems going for much less than that.

Suppose it's just an excuse for Nintendo to re-market old games on the ageing system. Still a little while before Project Cafe hits though...

Golbez wrote:That Select box artwork is pretty classy. Remember the horrible lime green cases for the Playstation Greatest Hits line?

Ah, haha. Yeah, these boxes are far nicer than the PS Platinum range (our 'Greatest Hits' alternative). We don't have lime green, but an ugly-as-hell bright yellow.

I see Nintendo's doing the same thing they did with the Wii pricing over there. $250, £250.

$19.99 is more or less the standard for budget titles in the U.S. that cost $50 originally. Seems like the Select line should cost more like £15 or so, right?

Yeah, £12-£15 seems to be what a lot of older 360 and Platinum PS3 games go for these days anyway. Online anyway (brick-and-mortar stores tend to be all over the place with pricing). I mean I'm sure the prices will go down fairly quickly on the 'Select' range.

Perhaps it's because a lot of Nintendo's games don't drop into sales oblivion as quickly as some others, so they don't need as drastic price drops?

Yes, the games do get coins. There is no intend to buy but if you buy it within (2 weeks?) of release, you get 60 coins.

So yeah, 60 coins is a lot and now I AM PLATINUM BABY! I bought Animal Crossing and it is a great game so far.

15 bucks is a bit too cheap for the select. 20 bucks if fine. There is bound to be sales, discounts, deals, and even used copies of the game.

a reprint of Metroid Prime Trilogy
Super Paper Mario

GoldenEye Wii
CoD: Black Ops
CoD: Modern Warfare Reflex
Epic Mickey
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves
Wario Land: Shake It
Resident Evil 4
Sonic Unleashed

Oh yeah! And my birthday is next month, too! I already have Paper Mario and Galaxy but I've always wanted to play Strikers. I've never gotten into the Punch-Out series but at $20 I don't have much to lose.

I'm so glad Super Mario Galaxy is a Nintendo Select now. The disc I have right now freezes when you watch the second opening cut-scene with Kamak (spelling? Either that I forgot what they're called). Anyways, what I'm trying to say is that, I can't play SMG...so yeah, picking it up!

I'm going to guess we get 4 more in 3 months considering Nintendo's trend of releasing 4 every 3 months so far.

My guesses:
- Wario Ware Smooth Moves (because it's one in Europe)
- Mario Party 8
- Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
- Metroid Prime Trilogy
