Can't wait for tomorrow, work is gonna go by so damn fast due to my smoldering anticipation. I'll be sure to cram in an hour or two before I hit the sack!

This shouldn't be a 'spoiler' per se since it's in the Operations Manual, but I saw certain names in the Special Thanks section -- Kevin Cassidy and NIGORO(probably more, but those were the two that jumped out at me the most at the time).

The new music is definately odd. BUT since I've heard the originals so much anyway, I'm playing with both options set to 'new'. Some songs are good, but so many of the not-so-good songs play through the beginning, so I can't imagine too many original fans staying with it for long.

The sound effects are LOUD. Best to have them set about mid-way compared to music.

Oddly, certain small overlays from the original game make the WHOLE screen go black except for those menu items(such as pressing Select for the map, and selecting destinations for the teleporter). I assume they did this to highlight them so people could see them, but it's kind of jarring.

I find it strange that there are so many 'spoilers' available right away. Sanctuary Time Attack, Boss Rush, Curly Brace mode.... they're all there on the main menu on first load. No unlocking, just, right there. Not like most of us are going to be surprised, but I wonder if any new players will care...

I only paid attention to the CC controls since that's what I'm using, so:

D-Pad Only(not the analog sticks): Move/Aim-Up, press Down to enter rooms/pick-up items/investigate things
a/b: Jump
x/y: Shoot
SELECT: Map system(when you find the map system item)
START: Inventory
L/R: Change weapons

I'm pretty sure the Remote's controls are:

D-Pad: Move
2: Jump
1: Shoot
SELECT: Map
START: Inventory
A/B: Change weapons(likely kind of awkward..at least you can switch weapons from the inventory if that's any better).

I've never beaten Cave Story, nor have I ever played much of it (not used to keyboard controls; setting up a gamepad on PC is a pain). But I definitely know about the other stuff (except I don't know what's new).

I'm going to have to do the
Spoiler:
Island Core again so I can save Curly. I didn't get the rope like an idiot.

I know, I've never fully done it either. It's very clever how he did it, creating so many steps in order to achieve the end goal, but the loss of any reward for messing up ANY of those steps is kind of annoying. Even when I got the item you mention, used it the way I should have, I still didn't know what to do with the result, and messed it up entirely.

I haven't gotten to the point where those begin though...I can't decide if I want to NOT do that the first time around and then legitimately do that the next playthrough, or if I want to go ahead and do it now since I've only beaten it 'normal' before. I'm putting it off for a little while anyway though... don't want to rush it exactly.

I think I've done everything correctly, and all I have to do now is play I think. I've got 2 parts left before the final boss.

Spoiler:
Then Hell and Ballos if I so choose

Aw lame...I forgot

Spoiler:
The Timer. Anyone know where it is?

Gee this game sure is great mister, I'm just past the Labyrinth and getting my ass kivked as usual. The music and story are awesome, and coupled with those new graphics? *mwa!*

I've cleared the boy's mode with the bad and normal endings, so I'm now playing through Curly's Story. I tell you, I like the new Sand Zone theme. It's my favorite theme from the whole game...so far.

I only wish the story wasn't so dark and depressing.

I know this hasn't been replied to in close to two months, but I feel compelled to at least say something about one of my favorite games ever on this board. First of all, the "weird" remixed music actually really is messed up, as explained in this link and I guess they just never could patch it. I've heard they were gonna fix it and maybe some other things for the EU and JP releases but I never did get info on if that was true or not.

Also, if I'm allowed a shameless plug, I actually wrote an FAQ a couple months back for the game, using the WiiWare version as a basis. I did originally play it on PC a few years ago, and I still prefer that version for the lack of bugs and the modability, though I think the new modes and wonderful upgraded graphics are enough to toss a few Wii Points toward buying the Wii version.

And yes, this game is really, really good. Especially when you remember that it was originally created wholly and in every aspect by one single man, and that the most substantial addition to the Wii version by far, the upgraded graphics, were, again, all done singlehandedly by that same man.

And Mimigas are adorable.

they did fix the music bugs, but we won't know how it sounds until the EU release. i wish they'd update the original music as well, since it's downmixed to mono and sounds a little compressed compared to the freeware version, but i doubt that'll happen.

an update for NA is on the way- http://tinycartridge.com/post/118034211 ... to-dsiware
