Boycott G4?

Why is Kevin Smith on icons? I thought that was only for game designers, producers, and other people who are significant to gaming. Not Kevin Smith. Where did G4 go wrong?

I think we should boycott G4 and get our good old Tech TV back. I mean cmon when you start playing shows like Star Trek and Braniac, and Robot Wars, and that stupid undercover cop show then your not really a video game channel anymore. Give me back my original X-play, keep cinamatech and piss off G4.

Sad, really. Icons had some fantastic features, such as the history of the Dreamcast. Why they chaged it to a TNN/Spike knock-off is beyond me.

G4 makes me sad.

I still stick around for X-Play every so often, but the rest of G4 is utter crap. They even got ride of G4tv.com (the show)!

G4 has basically turned into a dumb as hell Spike TV. So sad....Tech TV was great....

I used to watch Tech TV all of the time. Ever since it was turned into G4, I stopped. The network is crap, to say the least.

Yes, finally, I miss G4tv too! That was a ok show, I also miss x-play, with the lovable gang. The last time, I watched G4 was for the e3, "live"

Personally I still enjoy plenty of G4's programming (Attack of the Show, Brainiac, X-Play, Cinematech). Of course there's decisions that I've disagreed with, but I'm not going to boycott a channel because of that. I watch plenty of other channels just to watch one or two different shows and G4 provides more than that. G4 is just a channel that provides entertainment. That's it. If you like a show, watch it. If you don't like a show, don't watch it. It's as simple as that.

It's not what they air currently that bothers me so much (although I don't bother to watch anyway since alot of it seems pointless), it's what they did away with, and how they changed themselves from a gaming network to a wannabe Spike TV.

G4tv just sucks now all the people who actualy played games and kew about them left.Kevin,Mogran, and Adam are the only tech people left,they rest of thema re just lame actors.

Yeah, I still miss tech tv. I cancelled that channel ever since a few weeks after the takeover. X-play is really the only good show left on now, but I just subsribed to their podcast instead of keeping that channel just to watch that show.

i watchedd xplay and stuff on techtv, then they moved to g4techtv and they got rid of alot of dumb shows and added video game shows. which was alright. then they added all these dumb idiotic shows like street fury, man show, ed the sock? c'mon! and they fire a host every like six months....

oh well i dont watch it anymore

Your lucky to have a gaming channel. Where I live we only have ONE Gaming/Techno/Geek TVShow. But it's a good show, so I guess it's ok.

But the question remain:
Having no Gaming Channel or having a not so good Gaming Channel?
Not informed people or Badly informed people?

You'd think that they can't be getting better ratings than they use to. One reason being that everyone I know quit watching it. I myself rarely watch it, because there's nothing good on at 1 or 2 in the morning.

Now, unless you have a Nielson Box, you boycotting won't do squat.

g4 isnt really a gaming chnnel anymore. they have like two video game shows. and i get more info (alot more) on the internet then adam sessler or kevin perreira.

Yeah the only shows that are gaming related are X-Play, Cinematech, and Cheat....I think that's it. I wouldn't count Attach of The Show....then again, I haven't watched since about 5 months back because of all the crap they waste your time with.

I've wanted to get G4 for a long time. But I don't have it on our cable. I watch it in Iowa when I go pick my sister up from college. I find good shows, but I can't speak for the channel in general.

yeah, when G4 first came out I thought it was great.. but once Star Trek, and Fastlane and whatever garbage is on there now... it just fel through, and even a bit before that it started turning out kind of bad.

Meh, I haven't watched it in forever, really really don't care to.

I watched it when TechTV and G4 "merged" and for around a year or so after that (Because I didn't have G4, but I did have TechTV). After a couple of months, you realized that G4 didn't merge with it, but instead was slowly killing it.

After that year, every show that I liked had been cancelled, but I started watching AotS. I stopped watching that when Brendan and Sarah left... or were fired.

Now G4 is just a channel for shallow men aged 18-34.

i never had tech tv, but my friends say i would have loved it. i never had g4 either until a month ago when i moved, and my new service provider carries it.

g4 does NOT impress me at all, in fact i'd agree with the "shallow" statement. the writing isn't very good, the humour i'd rate at terrible, and god love 'em for trying to deliver such garbage in their broadcasts, but the personalities come off about as real/genuine as 3d characters from the games they're often discussing.

i will give the channel credit for airing star trek: tng; i haven't seen that show in ages!
