There were like 50 questions posted in one day, the thread was locked so it wont be flooded with 1000 more questions from people who have ONE post on the forums :). Itll be back up sooner or later.

I didn't know it was locked and was wondering why the thread was that small.

Yeah, like Korkow said, don't worry about it. It's not like you're the only one that can't post in it.

my standard response for all those that have PM/emailed me asking the same thing:

after the crash last week and having to restart the questions thread (again), i'm going to try and do a better job of moderating the queue. i already screen for duplicate questions, etc, but i'm also going to try and keep the list more timely. in ONE DAY after restarting the thread, we got 4 pages (60 posts, and many more questions), or about 7-10 episodes worth of questions, so it got locked to prevent things from getting out of hand.

i'll post a notice or story when it reopens, which should be in a few episodes.

thanks!

i can only suggest in the meantime that you take the opportunity to get involved with the rest of the community. i'd be much more swayed to reopen the thread for someone who's been around and joined in other discussions than someone who pops in, registers JUST to ask a question... the messageboards aren't intended as a vehicle to just submit questions. the point of the site, podcast, and boards is to build interactivity and community, so please take advantage of it!

^ That sounds very reasonable.

I joined with intensions to ask a question as soon as i joined, but as it was locked, i chose to look around the boards and its a great place to hang :)

However, the moment the questions topic opens again im getting my question in there :)

I would think that maybe it should be based on rating like goomba's can't post but shy guys and up can.

the thing that stinks is that the thread is usually open for one day then closes for like 3-5 months

It's all luck, folks.

The only thing I can say is check the boards about mid-way through the week (So cort has had a chance to move the questions that have been answered). When the Podcast Questions thread has about 15-20 replies, it'll probably be open again soon, most likely that Sunday. Try and make sure you remember to log on and get your questions in that day.

it's not so much 'luck'. the questions for the podcast are intended as a method of the COMMUNITY to interact with the podcast crew, and signing up for the boards JUST to post a question isn't really being part of the community, yet there are so many people who have and continue to only post in that thread, and nothing else.

that said, the questions thread is being moderated for timeliness. in the past it's always been a sort of running joke that questions are so horribly outdated by the time they're answered that it's really the only way to improve on this, especially since the questions portion of the podcast has been steadily shrinking over the past 6-12 months. this time, i didn't even HAVE to post an announcement that the thread was reopened, people just started posting to it within MINUTES of it being unlocked. i left it open for about 2 days.. more than enough time for any regular member of the community to check in for a couple minutes. i figure 3 pages of questions is about as far out as we should go, since it equals about 2-3 months worth of podcasts, any longer than that and it just starts getting unreasonably long between question asked and finally answered.

anyway, the point is: if you only check once a week or so, then it simply means you have a lot of missed opportunity to get involved ;)

yo, Prestron, would you mind not spamming the podcast question thread? That's just space that others who might not stalk the thread for unlocked times might use to ask the crew a question or two

I honestly don't listen to the podcast but I would seriously like to ask whomever it may concern why so many Kojima stories end up on Gonintendo.com. Seriously, it's beyond superfluous not to mention strange. Kojima has done nothing to support Nintendo systems in 3 years. It's time to stop posting about the man and move on.

Anyway, I think if the members of the podcast were more involved on the actual message board more people would be inclined to participate here. The podcast is GoNintendo's major claim to fame is it not? Whatever the case, this is a nice if not terribly active forum of which I'm glad to be a member.

news is news... though with kojima it's often mostly rumour; you never know what he's doing next.

speaking of news; that's where most of the site's popularity lies, though the podcast helps for sure. originally, a couple of the podcast crew members would pop in here on the boards, but that was 4+ years ago, and it didn't make any difference to the forum activity. they all should have accounts; you can always send them a message!
