You better have children well into their teens to even make such a comment.

No I don't. I do however have parents as do all my friends and acquaintances so I can draw comparisons.

And I don't need kids to have common sense. If a child spends all his time playing games, watching porn and surfing the internet, then it's the parents' fault.

Good to know you don't have children and have no real world experience with a child and problems that occur with one. Common sense should have also told you that if you don't have a child how could you possibly know how to teach a child right from wrong? Trust me, playing video games, watching porn, and surfing the internet are the least of a parents problems with children. The least. Then you would know that because you have parents and acquaintances. Please.

On topic: Yea heard SOE had 12k CC stolen? Or is this just rumor?

You're right. I need my own children to know that parent should be enforcing morals from an early age and teach them not to commit crimes.

As for you second point, I'm not naive. I understand that there are dozens of factors that affect families in America, but there are still many other countries that you guys laugh at because they're in unfortunate situations, and yet they still manage to teach their kids right from wrong at an early age.

I don't expect everyone to become rocket scientists, but look at everyone on this board. I'm pretty sure everyone here has a basic knowledge of right and wrong, and we all come from diverse backgrounds. It's evident that something went wrong with this hackers parenting.

As for the "games, porn, internet" comment, it seems like my point went over your head. Kids do these things and it's more or less normal. What's wrong is when they dedicate all their time to these things. Today with the internet and everything, it's not hard for kids, and their lack of a better judgment, to get sidetracked by bad influences online. It's a parent's responsibility to make sure this never happens. I mean, we're in America for crying out loud. There are counselors, orientation groups, psychologists, aid funds, rehabilitation services and dozens of other social services, yet you still end up with these kinds of people. If you resort to using the "you're not a parent!" argument again, go back and read paragraph 2.

@ Topic

SOE being penetrated was inevitable. It was only a matter of time before more undisciplined children and adults took advantage of the situation.

Actually I'm pretty sure the SOE hack was during the PSN hack. They just jumped from server to server and Sony just recently noticed.

Makes you wonder if/ when anybody will resign over this. Don't quote me, I can't remember the source, but I heard the SOE hack has affected a further 25 million accounts. You can't have details of over 100 million accounts blown open and not have someone bow out for it. Their PR people can't be sleeping well.

Oh and I know above posters know the mini parenting debate is off topic. Just be warned that any more posts about it in this thread will just be deleted.

Sony blames "Anonymous" for stage-setting theft

Sony says Anonymous's DDoS attacks on Sony indirectly allowed a hacker to penetrate Sony's systems.

Someone planted a file on one of the servers called "Anonymous" containing the words 'We Are Legion'.

Yeah great Anon, now how about using your collective brain cell to figuring a way to piss off Sony without screwing over millions of innocent folk who have nothing to do with any of this hacker business.

Do you actually think that anon, a group that considers itself the savior of the World, can be reasoned with? For crying out loud, they think that what they're doing is justice! Considering that most people in general can't be reasoned with, do you think that a group like anon will even consider another point of view?

Haha, oh I know there's no reasoning with them. And I suspect trying to would leave you monumentally screwed.

Sounds like the Playstation brand's warranty has just expired, and the Sony-bomb dropped like always. Good thing I never buy that stuff. I always get it passed down from others. Often I have to dust it out and rebuild/replace parts before the thing will even boot up. Still, a good indication never to go online with it once I do get it.

Thing is, how do you even know who's responsible? What is "Anonymous"? It's not an organized group. Just because someone left a file behind with a catch phrase doesn't really mean much. I roll my eyes every time I read something in the media talking about "Anonymous" as some chaotic group of hackers. If there's one thing Anonymous isn't, it's an organized group of anything. If one person who posts on 4chan occasionally hacks a server, does that mean "Anonymous" is responsible?

For the record I've been monitoring my credit card since the breach; no unusual activity. I'm not panicking and canceling it just yet.

There's a firmware update live now (v3.61). Hopefully this means the network itself isn't far from being restored.

Okies, well since the service is back up, I don't see a need for this thread to continue. Feel free to unlock it if you want, cort.
