just wanted to welcome everyone to our GoingSony section of the messageboards!

the style is very rough, just like the microsoft section, so bear with me while things get up and running, especially the mario-related iconography

As for the visuals, I think things are working out just fine. Any ideas on what kind of icons your going to use?

Maybe like... the circle for new topics, X for old topics. Or, the PS button red for new topics and a black one for old. Hmmm.. I can't really think of many recognizable things you could go with, Sony doesn't seem to have to many.

(I actually really like the pink buttons Maybe that little red stroke around everything could be that same color pink?)

Are there any plans to change the ranks? To better fit with the three systems?

i've been mulling over the ranks for quite some time.. unfortunately it doesn't seem possible to tie a ranks system to a theme... it's all or nothing with those. i think best case scenario, we have a mixture of images that sort of rotate between characters from each platform, or use completely generic ranks.. i'm for the former. generic stuff scares me.

as for the icons.. it's the same predicament i was in for the banner...not as many simple, iconic things to choose from, that are as widely agreeable as say the mario franchise is for nintendo. it would be nice if there were simple sprites available for the ranks and/or the forum icons...i'll have to do some looking around i guess!

for example.. at 250 posts you could choose between piranha plant, chocobo, or, ... something Halo related. Lol, something like that.

Just at whatever level your at, you can choose between which company's theme you like better. Or something.

That'll tough, considering the basis of the ranks is only post count. I suppose setting up a criteria for one of the three systems could be possible, but then we'd have to get them to pick, and facilitating changes would be difficult, if not problematic.

In its current state, phpBB3 only has a single, unified rank system. It is not possible to let a user "set" a rank or have a rank set for a given theme.

Hence why I wouldn't mind them being stationary. If they're the size of the sprites we have no, there shouldn't be much of an issue. Most sites aren't 56k friendly anymore anyway.

until we can get a complete staff assigned, i've recognised sackboy's ambition by making him a moderator in the sony/playstation forums. like i said before, the playstation and xbox sites will not reopen until we have things completely in order; no half-assed loose ends
