Favorite LoZ companion

Is that time of year again where people say their favorite Zelda companion. In this case who's your favorite? (Please ignore the comment on a certain character here as I was already reluctant to put that character in)

I cast my vote for Midna, but for all the hate Fi got, I got kinda emotional at the end of SS.

Tatl is a close second, but Midna is ultimately the best due to not being a ball of light and for having gameplay/plot involvement beyond moral support.

I'm going to go with Zelda from Spirit Tracks. She actually makes herself useful backing Link up and she gets to be quite funny at times. In fact Spirit Tracks is the only game where Zelda actually did more than the usual provide minor support or serve exclusively the damsel in distress (IE be completely useless).

I would have chosen Midna, except she flipped the hero/side-kick role. Guess who provided the most support? Link.

Definitely Midna. She's fun, sassy, and plays a pivotal role in the story. That said, I'm still advancing my way through Phantom Hourglass and have yet to play Spirit Tracks. I'm very interested to see how Zelda herself works as a partner.

I had to vote Fi because of that smiley face. Jackass. I really love her, but it's so hard to choose between all the companions I've been with, so to speak (which in my case is everyone but Tatl and Zelda).

King of Red Lions. Him being a boat makes him pretty useful, and the ending of WW is pretty powerful.

Yeah.. I still can't get past the end of that game without getting emotional. The makers of that game really nailed the whole sequence of events & script.

I had heard that Fi was absolutely horrible, but she's not as bad as I had feared.. thus far..

I voted for Midna, but for me it was definitely a tie between Tatl, The King of Red Lions and Midna. Those three are the best examples of a well done companion in a Zelda game. They've got a good personality, they're important to the story and they don't blurt out stupid and horribly obvious stuff ("Hey Link, you're dying!" "THANKS FI!")

I voted for Zelda. I thought it was interesting how she was used and that she finally had a gameplay role in the ZELDA series.

I like grown up midna. Fi to me, is good, only when I imagine a good backstory for her and ignore everything she says in the game.

I am not very sure if you are replying to my comment about Midna, so please tell me if you are replying to my comment or not.

But I never said that Midna changed from a sassy companion to a sassy companion who is kind. I am just saying that I like the fact that Midna had a change of heart about humans

Though Fi did point out frustratingly obvious things, she was useful, and gave hints on the temple you are in.

I miss the days of not having a companion. Maybe an owl comes down and talks your ear off for a while, then you can be off on your own for a while.
Anyway I voted for Elzo, because it was kind of interesting for Link to have a living creature for a hat.

Actually i wasn't replaying to you what i said was my own thoughts on midna.

Midna, hands down. She's been the only one of the companions that has a good personality and talks fairly often.

As for all the Fi hate, I completely agree, she had no personality whatsoever; it even seemed as if they purposely designed her to be an unfeeling robot. I mean, how am I supposed to feel anything for a character who talks like a computer for the whole game? That's why the ending didn't even phase me.

She's just the best that I've seen so far. Nintendo should have her as a playable character in the next Super Smash Bros. game.
