Limbo

Postby LordTyroxx » 13 Mar 2008 20:39

Through the help of my little friend, Stumble, for Firefox, I found a little concept game called Limbo. It looks completely amazing.

http://www.limbogame.org/

Video looks better on their website.

But I think this game has faded out of existence.... so sad

It is nightmare before christmas meets loco roco.

Maybe we could send letters or something asking about completion. I really want to help them finish making this game. (so I can play it)

Looks like it would make for a good Wiiware game. I like how it's one of those "it's simple looking, yet gives off the right atmosphere" kind of indie games.

I just got sent this from the Limbo CEO. I thought this game was dead, for sure. I'm really excited it will be coming out. I just wish i had a 360 so I could play it. So what do you guys think of this news?

Hi,

My name is Dino Patti, and I'm the CEO of the company now known as PLAYDEAD. We are the developers of LIMBO, an original game idea by Arnt Jensen, who produced and released the concept video you may have seen on our site in 2006. Arnt and I started planning and producing the game together right after that, and, being only two developers, we didn’t have time to answer the thousands of emails we received from fans and publishers.

So, first of all, I thank you for your patience, some of you signed up as early as the beginning of 2007. The reason for the "radio silence" is that we have been very busy producing the game and didn't want to spam your inbox with irrelevant information.

It has been a long journey for us, which I won't cover in more detail here. I'll just let you know that the reason things have taken so long is that we started from scratch (Arnt started working on the concept two and a half years before we met) and decided to make LIMBO independently after talks with several publishers. Todayour team counts 8 in addition to some freelancers, at our maximum we were a total of 16.

Now for the real reason why I'm writing you...

LIMBO is launching on consoles this year with a summer launch on XBLA!
(See first official screenshot here: http://www.limbogame.org/maillist/link. ... 0729fdbex1 or currently on the frontpage of www.ign.com)

From now on I'll keep you posted regularly, so expect updated content from the game very soon. Screenshots, movies, you name it...

(We'll also be at the IGF Pavillion at GDC if you are interested in seeing a small part of the game)

Spread the word :)

Regards,
Dino Patti

LIMBO

Anyone get LIMBO? What did you think? I thought it was a really great game, not as great as what people said, but was still good. I liked the first half the best because of the

Same here, I played the demo, and while it was absolutely amazing (gorgeous artwork and brilliant sound design!), I simply refuse to pay $15 for an arcade game these days.

Man I have to say this game is awesome and I have pretty much all the traps figured out except I have a slight problem with timing that I need to fix big time near the end of the game. I just need the achievement of beaten the game in one move with five or less deaths.

I loved Limbo.

I didn't $15 love Limbo though. But the intro sold me and made me buy it immediately. Hahaha.

I also had all the hidden eggs except one. Not the achievement ones, the ones that they don't tell you about (which made the total Percent something like 111% I think). The one I was missing involved beating the game without dying at all and running back into the water behind you at the end before you get the last 'scene'.

It was a little too short for me and after about halfway through, I stopped understanding what was going on or why I was where I was. I'd still recommend it to anyone, but I'd suggest getting it discounted if possible. Or find the disc with Trials HD/Limbo/Splosion Man for cheap and get it that way.

I really wanted to love Limbo.

But I realized at a certain point that it was just a subpar puzzle platformer with an artsy coat of paint that was not worth the $15 I spent on it.

I dig it. but you're right, it isn't worth 15$ imo. that's why I bought it on sale on steam for like, 2.50$ or something.
