EDIT: Okay, I was wrong, sorry, these are the original Japanese names... Good job on the translation then.
I still don't like these name, too close to my life (Sylvie is my mother's name...)

Kinda funny this is probably gonna be one of the first full-fledged retail-releases we might get to see on the eShop and everyone keeps worrying about its price, already readying their moans if it might actually cost anything around retail. I still worry about the future of (proper) digital downloads on Nintendo platforms with that kind of mentality.

The somewhat odd impressions I got from some of the first English voice samples aside, the game's still looking kinda interesting. Got my doubts we're going to see this in Europe (anytime soon) though, albeit chances should be doubled with the PSN-PSP release.

Apparently her original name breaks down to "shi-ru-vi" in kana. Which part about this might be "badly translated" exactly? Pretty much spot-on.

I totally feel the same. Although in this case, I'm giving TLS the side eye rather than this game. So far, anyway.

Feeling a tad bit conflicted over this. I was really looking forward to this game, and knowing it had Grandia's director and Lunar's scenario writer makes me really want it more (and Kazushi Hagiwara and Pako's art~). But the voice from the first trailer sounded awful, and I haven't known XseeD to go dual audio, so I'm a wee bit let down.

What the hell are you talking about? I'm looking at the Japanese site and the character's name is Sylvie. Or are you also pissed that we're getting "Unchained Blades" instead of "Ancheinbureizurekusu"?

I'm really sorry, I didn't do any research about the game. I just supposed it was the case, as I'm not really used to see my mother's name in a fantasy game. Usually, the names sounds more like "Lufia" or "Marth", more like "old" and "fantasy" names. Again, really sorry.
So the "bad" names were already in the original game. I'm okay with that. I still don't like it, but I can't argue against the choice of the names.

I'll still have a look at it. It looks promising.

The problem doesn't really lie with him though, probably (at least not entirely).

Admittedly, I am not moved by most of his voices, except for Kanji, where I felt like he managed to fit the character and do a great job, and a couple of others. Either way, sometimes even good VAs have bad. . . recording sessions?
