Marvel's The Avengers Movie Discussion (Spoilers)

Guys, this movie just came out today in the US and it's AWESOME

Why isn't there a thread for this incredible movie yet? Everyone NEEDS to see this. It's glorious. Hulk is especially glorious. The entire movie is a comic book come to life. This isn't an adaptation, this is a comic book in theaters. Everyone is represented correctly, the action is phenomenal, it doesn't take itself too seriously (a plus in my book), and it's just a load of fun - probably my favorite of 2012 so far, based on overall enjoyment, and it will be hard to top.

Anyone else seen it? Because you should see it. Right. NOW. Discuss.

I saw it last night at midnight. loved every second of it.

the only thing I would have changed is using the actual skrulls instead of their shovel ultimate universe counterparts.

oh, and joss whedon basically killed the only character he could have gotten away with, which was a shovel move.

I'm not sure what they are gonna do next, civil war or infinity gauntlet. I hope they don't try to do both in one movie.

Waluigi wrote:Those two are basically impossible to do next... I don't know much about the comics, but I understand that those two stories had way more characters than a movie could ever pull off. It would also be impossible to put them into one as well, lol

And yeah, (MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD)
Spoiler:
Phil Coulson's death really bummed me out. He was a real favorite of mine, especially after IM2 and Thor. I did like the whole trading card motive part to it, though. I thought the situation was handled well.

well, they had thanos at the end, and you don't bring in thanos unless you want to do infinity gauntlet. and they were laying ground work for civil war with the news footage at the end.

they could do it, but civil war would be hardest. would probably be 2 or 3 movies on its own.

Infinity Gauntlet could probably be the story for Avengers 3 I'd say. Keep doing individual films to build up more new heroes and develop the old ones, Avengers 2 could be a bit more low key, more story based with some action, then build up more and more, and finish everything off with an Infinity Gauntlet story for Avengers 3. I don't think they're gonna throw Thanos, probably the most powerful Marvel villain, out there so soon.

That would be pretty cool, but I'm sure Marvel could think of something better

Waluigi wrote:Well, like I said, I'm not really well-versed in comic book canon. :p

The fact that the Infinity Gauntlet series pitted Thanos against many other Marvel heroes certainly shows some power, I would think. Maybe not most powerful, but up there, I would assume. Certainly not a throwaway villain.

that's cause he had the infinity gauntlet. with it, anyone is a bamf. and he did it all to win the favor of 'death' that's why the big grin when that thing said "to cort death" at the end.

but yea, he's no throw away even sans gauntlet. I'd say... herald level.

-Thanos will be in Thor 2. He has to be. Even though Thanos was originally an Ironman villain the Infinity Gauntlet is in Asgaurd in the same vault as the Cosmic Cube. Thanos needs it and unless Loki escapes I don't see how he'd get it.
-As Far as Marvel movies go we know that Ironman 3, Captain America 2, Thor 2, and Wolverine 2 are all in the works.
-Avengers 2 is still in preproduction.
-Mark Ruffalo signed to play Bruce Banner/Hulk in 6 more films-that doesn't mean 6 Hulk movies.
-I'm just curious to see if they pull Spider-man into the Avengers 2 (he is one in the comics) but Sony still holds the film rights to Spiderman. The new cartoon (while horrible) is about Spiderman receiving training from shield to be the "Ultimate Spiderman" Perhaps that's how they tie him in. either way spiderman is too popular of a superhero not to be in the Avengers. Personally I think it'd also be cool if they put Spider Man in Iron Man 3.
-What happened to Red Skull too? last we saw he was blasted to another dimension. Hydra has to make a comeback at some point.
-Also they need to introduce some more characters either in their own movies or cameos in others. Key Avengers in the comics include Ant-man, Pixie, Black Panther,& Red Falcon.
-Fantastic Four Reboot? with Chris Evans as Capt we need a reboot of the Fan 4. Or a re-introduction of Dr.Doom. Doom is amongst the most dangerous villains in Marvel comics And he's given SHIELD one hell of a time.
-Another personal little complaint of mine is that they don't play up Tony Stark's alcoholism, I understand why (bad message to little kids) but it adds a layer to the Character of Tony Stark not seen otherwise.plus If they do Civil War as a storyline I want this bit of dialogue in the movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qLCvgpX59zM

I'm sure once those movie deals are up they'll come under Disney's house though. Well, maybe not X-Men. I still want to see X-Men Sophmore Class. After Avengers I want to see a Hulk movie, if it can be done right. The last two weren't very good.

that's just it, at least in the case of x-men and spider-man, as long as they make a movie every so often, they won't run out.

I thought it was awesome, I saw it at midnight too, through most the movie I just heard laughter. Avengers 2 I think will be a few years in the future, I mean we have Iron Man 3 and the Amazing Spiderman coming out. Also I can't wait to see Dark Knight Rises, even though it isn't Marvel, haha!

I'm not usually into super heroes and comic books, but I must say, this movie blew my mind! While I didn't really understand where some of the characters came from (I generally knew who everyone was, but the only stand alone movies I've seen were the two Iron Man movies), I still enjoyed every minute of it.
Check out The Tails and Sonic Show! It's awesome ^_^
