I do have one question to ask you before you think about buying a PSP. Why haven't you bought a DS already?

dude,
this is a Nintendo board - of course we are going to tell you to buy a DS!

I used to have a PSP but i sold it. I got a DS Phat that broke... Then i got another one that broke... Than i got a Lite. My Mom broke them sso i didn't have to pay for
them. PSP had no fun games for my taste. Plus a DS was cheaper and only for games. You probably have an iPod. Since it's a Tax free weekend you should buy a DS!
What games does a PSP have compared to DS?

well i thought about a ds which i used to have and i found that i didn't play it that much.. but that was when it first came out. not it has pokemon and some other games that would be kind of interesting to have..

i did like the psp just because it has god of war portable gta and they actually make college football for it...but i mean i might just not buy either... except the ds with guitar hero looked cool.

You should make a nice little pro-con list! They always help me out in a dilemma ^^.

I don't have a PSP so I can't help you decide. Personally I want one for Valkyrie Profile, but I'm in no hurry.

I told you to get a PSP. Here are the pros and cons of each console.

PSP

Pros
Internet Browser
Don't need to have a special adapter for wi-fi
More memory
Videos, Music, Pictures, Flash games, etc.
Better graphics
Wide screen
USB connection
Analog stick
Louder volume

Cons
Bigger than the DS
Battery dosn't last as long
Games Cost more
Need a memory stick for game data storage
Memory sticks cost a lot (depending on how much memory you get)
No touch screen
Games take longer to load than the DS

DS

Pros
Two screens
Touch screen
GBA slot
Games don't cost as much
PictoChat
Battery lasts way longer then PSP
Smaller then PSP
Mario games
Animal Crossing
Nintendo DS download stations

Cons
Nintendo DS Opera web browser sucked
No analog stick
Graphics aren't as good
No music, videos, pictures, etc.
Game packs are small so they're easy to loose
Hinge cracks

You could get a flash cart for your DS.
I have one, and i use it for movies, music, tv shows, comic reader, organiser blah blah blah. (And yes, i do back-up my games on it too, since i legally own them, but i don't want to carry them everywhere i go)

I have only had my ds a few weeks now, and i friggen love it. The games i have bought so far have all been very very addictive. Now i am just trying to save for FF3 and FF4.

BUT........ A PSP would be good as a portable media centre. Like you, the only games i am interested in on it are the GTA titles. Other than that, i don't think there are any other games on it that i am interested in.

I have to say yes, because you clearly know what you want. and I have both GTA games and they are very, very cool. Console style games on a portable is really sweet.

Not that the DS is bad, because there are some must haves, but the 3 games you mentioned are well worth the money, trust me.

it does take getting used to the psp as a system and it's worth getting a really, really, really big memory card (like an 8 gb) I have only 1 GB and i need a lot more room. The speakers aren't that hot so earbuds are must, but being able to play mp3s and vidoes and picture is fun. and with the GTA games you can use your own mp3 (after you convert them and put them in the right folder, would have to check joystiq for that) you have the in game radio stations play your music.

I would also suggest MGS portable ops as well.

I have the two GTA story games, and love them, VC is more fun for me, and the radio stations are a blast. I have played the demo of God of War, and it's just like console version, very cool game.

my faves are:

GTA:VCS
GTA:LCS
MGS:PO
Crisis Core
God of War
Activision Hits. some really great Atari games like Frostbit and Stampeed.
Don't sit there and peek around the corner and ask me stupid questions when I'm playing a video game like 'who's winning?' I'M winning. that's all you need to know.

If you like more japanese like games and rpg, get a DS.
I have a DS and a PSP, but the PSP is getting fewer good games nowadays.

If you are going to buy a PSP you need to get it modded so you can play the PS1 classics on it. If not for that the PSP is practically worthless compared to the DS's library of good games.

After all this time i sorta changed my opinion. I'd have to rate them equally. PSP is a lot of things the DS is not, but if you can't live without those Nintendo franchises and all you want is games, the DS seems to be a slightly better choice. If possible I would like to get both. Then again who wouldn't.

(I have used both for over 3 months so please don't say anything stupid)

This...both are very different machines. Both have vastly different types of games, and that is a plus for gamers. I have both, and don't regret it at all.
