I was so excited when we got our new direct tv box and it had this little channel called TechTV. I watched it all the time. I hate G4 like I hate Sony for taking away Lik-Sang.

I can't stand Kevin Pereira (quite possibly the most obnoxious guy ever on that channel) or Oliva Munn for the life of me. I liken it to MTV -- no music on the music channel .. and no real 'gaming' on the supposed 'gaming' channel. It's all rating-marketing bullcrap with little interesting content. Right now, X-play is the only decent show that is dedicated to video games, so that's the only one I can stand watching.

But the new 'attack of the show', no thanks. I wasn't lucky enough to see the show back when it was 'the screen savers', but now it's evolved into something totally different.

And what's with all the male-orientated programming such as the 'man show'? do they assume the only people who play video games are somehow men? i'm not a prude, but cripe, if I want to see people talk about sex and big boobs, i'll just watch regular TV.

i've been watching the channel more since first having access to it in april.... the writing is still godawful, and the humour is either not my taste, or just poorly executed and stiff.

speaking of stiff, how did they choose adam sessler as a face or personality for the gaming culture? sure, he may dress relatively well, but he's like a board with a face painted onto it. to emphasise this fact, he often stands with his shoulders up in his ears, and his hands in his pocket; i often mentally imagine he's wearing a medical headbrace (a 'halo' if you will). i guess he expects people to throw tomatoes at him or something, and wants to give the broadest, flattest surface. i understand tv 'jounalists' need to add movement and expression while on the air, but he's always nodding and jerking his head around with the kind of erratic movement i'd expect if his face were a target in an old-school NES light zapper game.

i appreciate x-play as a dedicated game-review show, but often, the reviews are overly sarcastic, and seem to focus primarily upon negative points of games, instead of useful information on GOOD games. as if the kind of forced, first-date charisma between adam and morgan isn't awkward enough, the humour they deliver is about on par with the qualifying rounds of any of those comedian reality tv shows....painful at best.

maybe i shouldn't be nitpicking people like that, but it's tv, and it should be done right, since it only appeals to a couple of our senses at any given time. guess i'll just go back to muting 'attack of the show' and enjoy olivia.. so long as ryan doesn't keep hogging the screen.

Adam Sessler is pretty much the only gamer, all of the others are paid posers with pretty faces. I only watch the x-play because of the occasional funny review.

What I also hate is them making it too much eye-candy. Sure, I love to stare at the hot female hosts like the next guy, but they try to hide their bad coverage by shoving them down our throats. They assume everyone who watches G4 is a pornographic pervert.

I say boycott everything except for X-Play. That way, the gaming part of the gaming channel will be supported and the rest will be ignored. If that happens, maybe they'll make more gaming segments again.

yes, x-play is basically the only decent video game show on that channel ... boring sometimes, though.

Personally I still enjoy plenty of G4's programming (Attack of the Show, Brainiac, X-Play, Cinematech). Of course there's decisions that I've disagreed with, but I'm not going to boycott a channel because of that. I watch plenty of other channels just to watch one or two different shows and G4 provides more than that. G4 is just a channel that provides entertainment. That's it. If you like a show, watch it. If you don't like a show, don't watch it. It's as simple as that.

I have G4Tech TV, which is basically the Canadian version of G4, and from what I've heard its actually better than G4 with regards to tech stuff. It's got to the point though where there aren't a lot of shows I still want to watch on it though. X-Play has just gotten terrible(Probably just a personal taste, since as someone who scours the internet skies for info, I know most of the info anyways. They review like 1 game per show too. Not cool!). I used to like AotS as well, and while Kevin Periera is pretty funny, the annoying fake audience has completely killed it for me. It seems like they got rid of Cinematech as well, and that show was awesome.

Nowadays on G4Tech, I mostly just watch The IT Crowd, and Reviews on the Run(It's Canadian, and I find the reviews aren't as harsh, and are more focused on how fun the game is. Definately a great show. Go Victor Lucas!). Do they show Reviews on the Run on the American G4, by the way? If not, tis heresy! But yeah, I've heard a lot about how G4 is almost becoming like Spike.

What's interesting is that although this topic is quite old(Just noticed), most of the problems still seem to persist, and seem relevant.

i used to watch G4/Tech TV back when they were separate channels. then they merged....then Screen Savers was morphed into a crappy show that all they talk is about sex problems. then they other day i turn it on and the whole day there was only 2 or 3 shows actually relating to video games on the whole day....i don't understand how a channel that is supposed to be for video games can only have around 4 shows about the subject. they just need to change their name if they aren't going to keep any of the good shows they used to have. but i mean they can never go back to how it was before the merge...so i guess all us old fanboys are screwed.

G4 is a terrible channel, and is obviously trying to copy [adult swim].

the only one i regularly watch is XPlay, for lack of any other gaming shows on TV.

Ever since G4 and TechTv Merged together it just went all downhill from there. It turned to complete utter shovel when they added some really stupid shows like Ninja-Warrior. While it may sound cool to watch so called ninjas compete to become the ultimate Ninja-Warrior, it is stupid to have it on a video game channel. It doesn't make any sense what so ever. Another show really not worth mentioning but I am going to anyway and they just recently released is HURL......... yep that's right H-U-R-L. The show is actually as stupid as the name. It basically consists of seven or so contestants who self-indulge themselves with various types of food like Pumpkin pie, hot dogs, hamburgers, fries, etc. Anyway after they finish consuming, their put into some sort of machine that spins them around until they throw it all up. The Contestant who manages to hold all of it in and not throw it up is the winner and receives one-thousand dollars. Kind of stupid huh, well you'd think that these kinds of shows would be on a totally different show instead of G4. But then again what do you expect? IT'S G FREAKING 4. Thank you G$ for screwing up one of the greatest television shows ever. One honk for G4.rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I know I might be overreacting to this stuff but still, it's just how much I hate this show. Oh and one more thing, you'd also think that there would be more video game channels instead of just 'ONE'. Pretty ironic if you ask me.

I absolutely love AOTS, the best wasted hour of my day. That show is just really funny and absolutely pointless, which makes it great.

I hate X-Play simply because their rating system is retarded, and their hosts are completely retarded. Morgan doesnt really seem like she completely knows what shes talking about, and Adam is annoying as hell (even if he is a respectable guy outside of the show).

I dunno, I just really dont like G4 overall though. I dont want to watch Cops or Cheaters 24/7! Which is how much you play those white-trash shows!

Sorry even X-Play have been corrupted by G4. X-Play used to be an entertaining show, but now it's just a magazine show -- nothing but reviews, previews, and news. The skits which X-Play is known for are pretty much gone except for times they need to bash crappy games or need something for a filler.

The only way G4 can ever get back its lost glory is if somebody smart bought out G4 and set right everything wrong with the network. But I don't see that happening... G4 is forever doomed as Spike TV Lite.

In fact why haven't G4 rebranded themselves by now? The fact they are still called G4 is still like broadswords in the backside of gamers being turned 90 degrees every frickin' day.

Some of 'em anyways. One such piece of crap was the skit making fun of the jukebox-ish mode of Soul Calibur II where you can screw around with character voices. Ugh. *headdesk*
