"Finished" with the Orange Box

So, I just "finished" The Orange Box, and I was wondering if anyone who knows a lot about Half - Life can explain something to me:

Who exactly is the G - Man? What does he do? Why does he talk to Gordon? And why is he so damn creepy?

I never played the original Half-Life, and this is the first time I ever played HL2. All I know about HL1 is that aliens invaded Black Mesa, then took over Earth, and Gordon got put into a long stasis.

On a side - note: Portal, TF2, and HL2 are amazing. Some of the finest game design I've ever seen. Valve really seems dedicated to creating fantastic gaming experiences.

I own The Orange Box on my PS3, actually it was my first game I bought for it.
I played and beat Half-Life 2, and I really didn't like the game.
That being said, I haven't attempted to play Episodes 1 or 2 yet, and I've only played TF2 and Portal for about 5 minutes each...I just really don't like dual analog after 6 months of COD:WaW and now 3 weeks of The Conduit.

Personally, I never saw what the "big deal" was with the IR. The only time I felt it was completely superior to analog was in RE4 Wii. RE5 felt a little awkward with the analogs. The Conduit is a very good example of IR, however, as is Metroid Prime 3 - - it's just a shame I'm not fond of MP3.

I never got used to the CoD:WaW IR. The aiming was always too sensitive and jumpy, and I could never adjust it exactly how I wanted it, no matter how I changed the settings. The CoD analog controls are already extremely tight, so WaW Wii always felt like a downgrade in every aspect. :/

I will admit though that Valve games have aiming that isn't completely pinpoint accurate.

But, I digress - - who is the G -Man?

G-man, worked at the same science lab that Gordon worked at. He is like a super human of something "working" for some kind of unknown alien force.

No one seems to know what is really going on with G-man.

G-Man is one of the big mysteries of the game. No one really knows much about him besides the fact that's he freakin' awesome.

Hmm. That's strange.
So there's no info on him?

Guess info will come later. Probabaly in Episode 3.

It's just a shame Valve has no love for the PS3.
