Pach-Attack - Reward Systems

Found it at +1 and had to neutralize it.

I'm ashamed of RMC for giving this guy a platform to speak to more people.

Pach-Attack - Reward Systems

I don't see anything inaccurate about anything he mentioned in this video. Rewards programs would benefit from offering more bang for your buck, games go digital because they have a better chance of not suffering a huge loss, and Nintendo, whether you like it or not, would make more money by putting their products onto mobile devices (Although they never will, so I don't see the point in mentioning it) Everything he said is pretty obvious in this video and makes sense.

Do you think Patcher plays those games in the back there? Wouldn't it be crazy to play him online in Kid Icarus o_O

@J0RdAnN

Yeah, because an unlicensed product and a TV commercial from the 90's is what Pachter was talking about...

Nintendo licenses out Mario, etc for things like bed sheets and pajamas and lunch boxes. They just don't do it aggressively. You really have to look for them. And Pokemon figurines are currently at MC Donald's as a happy meal pack in toy.

Now as for the comment about Nintendo releasing GBA games on iOS and Android, well I am less sure about how that would work. I think Nintendo would make lots of money doing that, but it also might eat into the sales of their handheld. Because if people can buy Nintendo games on a non Nintendo platform, perhaps they might skip something like the 3DS altogether. Of course, I don't know if that's true or if the two could co-exist, but there is that concern. Also, Nintendo is all about the quality of the experience with their IPs.

I don't get what he meant by the pajama things. I see that type of stuff all the time.

I mean look at these bad-ass shoes for example:

@TheBaconator Except touchscreens repurposed as a d-pad/buttons for a serious game is complete garbage. So no, it makes no sense.

Yes it would have terrible controls, I for one can't even play mobile games because the controls don't do it for me, but he never said anything about the controls being good, he just said they would make more money which would be the case.

Pach-Attack - Reward Systems

Postby MisterOpinionHead » 30 Jun 2012 20:31

Most of the time Pachter's thoughts are pretty reasonable, whether or not I agree with them. In a perfect world, I'd like to see Nintendo games only on Nintendo hardware. But I think it's a no-brainer for Nintendo to sell their old NES, GB, GBC, and GBA games at least on the iPhone and Android marketplaces. Maybe not on Steam, since that would devalue the software. But they could charge the same prices as in the eShop and they'd still sell like hotcakes. I agree that the integrity of the gameplay would suffer due to the lack of physical controls. But to combat that, maybe Nintendo could be the company to finally create the perfect physical control add-on accessory for iPhone, iPad, and Android - one that would be well enough designed and marketed to become a new standard (unlike other products that have never caught on.) Nintendo could even partner with mobile phone makers to include the accessory and a classic game for free with new smartphone purchases, which would also be great PR for Nintendo's current gen handhelds - delivered straight to the people who Nintendo may have lost to smartphones in the last 5 years.

I don't know what Pachter is talking about... he's just plain wrong on a lot of the concepts used as foundations for his "advice" for Nintendo.

RMC, I'm sure it's good for hits but stop giving this guy more chances/attention!
