It's funny, but these two images alone really solidify the Nintendo difference for me. What I notice that's different is color and a vibrant nature. It's got that touch that I only get out of Nintendo games.

@RawmeatCowboy
Which is exactly why I can't wait to see what Nintendo can really do with an HD capable machine

yeah, rmc! all the way! nintendo adds its touches all over everything it does and i also think that their courage to be colorful is why i feel so much joy when playing their games. i know it sounds idiotic to use a word like "courage" when talking about using color but in an industry that is grey, brown and black washed, it seems most companies are afraid just adding an expanded color pallet will alienate their broseph "core" audience.

I hope I hope Miiverse ends up being cool. It has potential but like most of Nintendo's interfaces I expect it'll be missing a number of key features that keep it from being truly worthwhile. In the case of Miiverse, I don't expect to have a large friend's list and I don't give two craps about people I don't know. So while it sounds like it could be the Facebook for gaming, it might end up being the Myspace of gaming.

Isn't Miiverse coming to 3DS too? If so, that's what it would look like when you turn on the 3DS!

All the more reason to get a 3DS XL, I suppose. I can see the small 3DS screen getting awfully crammed. But then Miiverse on 3DS might be considerably different.... who knows.

Agreed. Most HD games have a similar art style and the same gray color tone for everything. I can't wait to see how Nintendo games look; especially their 3D mario game.

I want this console if just for the Miiverse OS aspect of it. I've been wanting to have a more solid method of communication with gamers online for so long. I mean laptops can provide stuff along those lines but I dunno... Nintendo has that "magic" about them that I know it will make me want to return to the system to know what's going on in there.

man I love the look of the Wii U OS. It's just so... Nintendo. I can't put it any other way than that. It's just got that Nintendo feel I know and love.

I can't wait for Miiverse! I will add all my 3DS friends from GoNintendo, and I hope I'll be able to add many more! :D

Hum, how I see the Miiverse incorporated in the 3DS OS?
Easy, the 3DS OS stays the same that it is now, but instead of a dull white background on the top screen behind the game "icon"/logo, I see the miis gathering around them, like for the WiiU, but only one game at a time, and the empty spaces would show you games you don't have "that could be put into this empty space". They could add a button on the lower screen to enter the "twitter" feed of the game currently selected.
Done like this, it could be really great.
Shy Guy? How did I return to that?? I was a Koopa? ... AWESOME!

Wii U - software/hardware promo images

Postby MoldyClay » 03 Aug 2012 05:45

@LegendofSantiago

Considering some of those are 3DS game icons, probably not.

It looks like a mishmash. Some of the icons look like (from that pic and what we saw from E3) they were connected to Nintendo Land's minigames (or the prototypes) and used generic icons (for example, the Boo one).

It's also possible that the Miiverse will show 3DS games as well, since it will be added to the 3DS down the line.

I hope we're given a certain amount of control over how they're arranged. I'm a little OCD when it comes to menus. The icons have to be aligned to a grid, organized in some kind of logical order, etc. The Wii menu bothered me because I hated those huge channels. I would have prefered more icons per screen. 3DS was a lot better but I still want more options. Folders are nice but I hate those bland blue folders. What if I don't like sky blue, huh Nintendo?

I want Pikmin 3 at launch. :( But I'm sure that won't happen. But that means that NSMBU will most likely be at launch, and then I'm happy.

I just hope that the next round of games Ninty will show are good. I need more Metroid. D:

I really see no dofferance. You say it if unintended do ia the only ones who put colors I. Their games or as if the 3DS and Wii OS GUI has morethan just a sterile white interface.
