Could you introduce yourself and explain your role in the project?
My name is Drew Quakenbush and I am the Senior Producer for The Adventures of Tintin: The Game. As Senior Producer I am in charge of managing the production team delivering the best game possible.

How does it feel to work on such an iconic franchise?
Feels great! The Ubisoft teams are huge Tintin fans and it was a pleasure for us to dive into the universe of our childhood hero. Game development was demanding and rewarding at the same time. To work on the game properly we had to do a lot of research to understand precisely Hergé’s universe but as grown-upswe rediscovered Hergé’s work, its depth, and how it is universally understandable and appealing for both adults and kids.

Can you describe your collaboration with the filmmakers?
It is a real pleasure to work with Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson as we developed the game. We had various meetings at the Weta studios and in LA with the filmmakers and were given access to the movie script, 3D models and environments. They gave us very constructive feedbacks on the visuals, animations and script throughout development. We often had ‘expert’ conversations such as: should Haddock’s moustache cover all of his mouth? It was so funny and weird to discuss this with Peter Jackson! Same thing regarding the size of the noses of our characters! These may seem to be small details but our objective was really to find a perfect balance between Hergé’s characters and the artistic direction of the movie. We feel we’ve accomplished this and are very happy with how well the video game adheres to the creative direction in movie and in the original comics.

How close to the movie is the game?
Our game is closely related to the storyline of the movie with most of the characters and environments from the film. We really wanted to give players the opportunity to relive most of the key moments of the movie but we also prepared a few surprises to enrich the game experience for the players such as new environments, new characters and a fun cooperative mode, based on Captain Haddock’s dreams.

What is the genre of the game?
This is a non-stop action adventure game! Players will be confronted with many twists and turns, travel around the world, discover many exciting environments and experience a huge variety of gameplay for around 20 hours!

What type of gameplays are you confronted with when playing TINTIN?
The game offers players a diverse range of gameplay that really makes the game fun. We were also careful to adapt the type of gameplay to each situation to enrich the flow of the game.Core gameplay is all about action, platforming and being ingenious and cunning to trap or fight enemies.

We also incorporate more exotic and action oriented gameplay elements such as swordfighting, flying, driving a side-car, andsleuthing. Players will never get bored and gameplay is not repetitive.

How many game modes do you have in the game?
We have three game modes which provide a global experience to the player.

In the story mode, which is a solo mode, you’ll be able to expand the movie experience. Players can relive most of the key moments, find characters and environments from the film.

Our co-op mode allows up to two players to share the fun together. The mode has a fun twist and takes place in dream-like environments; it’s very gameplay oriented with strong replayability.

And Challenge mode, gives to players the opportunity to jump in and out of the game and to improve their skills fighting against AI with a range of gameplay elements like swordfighting, plane piloting and driving a side-car.

Can you tell us more about coop?
When imagining the cooperative mode, we wanted to propose something very creative and gameplay oriented. The idea was all about sharing the fun with your friends or family. We imagined different environments based on Haddock dreams as they often appear in the original comics.

You can play the same characters as in the story-line mode, plus new ones, such as the Thompsons. Each of the characters has specific abilities that allow you to experience surprising new ways to fight enemies and bosses, overcome obstacles, solve puzzles and reach new areas.

Players are also rewarded throughout the entire game with maps and can earn disguises for their characters that range from beautiful to very crazy!!!!The coop mode represents more than 7 hours of gameplay with strong replayability. One player can enjoy this mode, helped by the AI.

On which platforms has it been developed?
The Adventures of TINTIN:TheGame will be available for both Nintendo's Wii™ console, Xbox 360® including Kinect™ sensor compatibility, PlayStation®3 game console with PlayStation®Move compatibility, as well as Nintendo 3DS system and PC.

We also propose full HD stereoscopic 3D for our Next Gen versions, to enhance the immersion.

Who is in charge of the development?
All the versions are developed by Ubisoft Montpellier Studio. Our development team benefits from extensive experience working on quality “movie games” including Peter Jackson’s King Kong, the official game of the movie. Part of the team has also worked on action-adventure games such as Beyond Good & Evil.

In your opinion, what kind of audience will really enjoy the game?
Our game has broad appeal. Those who saw the movie and enjoyed it will be pleased to dive into its universe and play as TINTIN, the intrepid reporter and hero of the action-packed movie or his quick-witted dog Snowy.

If you’re looking for an action/adventure game that is both immersive and interactive to share with friends or family, The Adventures of TINTIN: The Game is made for you.

We also believe that fans of the TINTIN comic books will enjoy it because we respected Hergé’s work and values.

What can we expect from the 3D versions?
The 3D version immerses players in the TINTIN universe: Players can enter Captain Haddock’s ship the Karaboudjan, travel into the moonlit deserts of the northernSahara, discover the exotic city of Bagghar, and much more.

More generally, 3D is a real plus for the games in general as it eases the gamer’s perception of depth and makes you a better player! It’s also fully consistent with the movie as most of theatres will broadcast The Adventures of Tintin in 3D.

What about accessories like Kinect, or the Move?
For the Xbox 360® version, there will be dedicated challenges using Kinect™ motion sensor, users will be able to play using their whole body through very intuitive gestures.

Regarding PlayStation®3, the full Challenge mode will be playable with PlayStation® Move.
However, the game can be played without the PlayStation Move motion controller or the Kinect™ motion sensor for Xbox 360®.

When will the game be available?
The game will be available in the UK in October
