ENDOFDAYTHOUGHTS 01

This week seems to be flying by. That might have something to do with Christmas being right around the corner! Well that, plus the fact that I still have Christmas shopping to do! I better get on that...but first, some sleep! See you in a few, short hours.

It has been a topic that many a Nintendo fan has discussed in the past. Retro is a very talented company, and they've proven time and time again that they know how to handle Nintendo franchises. Their most recent victory comes from Mario Kart 7, and it also signifies Nintendo co-developing a Mario Kart title. It's clear that Nintendo and Retro have a very close relationship.

Just look at the history of Retro. They've had a ton of amazing moments. They managed to take the Metroid series and transform it into a first-person game. Their work on the franchise is so great that Metroid: Other M left many fans clamoring for Retro to return to the series. I can't think of a bigger compliment than that.

Retro also managed to take another Nintendo franchise and work wonders on it. Many of us thought that the Donkey Kong Country series was dead due to the split between RARE and Nintendo. That didn't stop Retro though. They managed to not only successfully capture the feeling of that series, but they breathed new life into it. I consider DKCR to be one of the finest and most innovative platformers I've seen in years.

Just how much does Nintendo appreciate what Retro does? Nintendo's own Shigeru Miyamoto feels that a Retro collaboration on the Legend of Zelda series might be something right up their alley. How much more of a vote of confidence can come around? I think the only place to go from there would be to offer Retro a chance at developing a Mario game!

Miyamoto thinks it would be a good idea, but do you? We don't know if Retro will ever work on the Zelda series, but it definitely sounds like Nintendo is warming up to the idea. For all we know it could be happening right now! Is this a future for the Zelda series that you would like to see? What do you think Retro could bring to the franchise that Nintendo might not be able to?
