Engadget names Circle Pad Pro one of 'Tech's biggest misfires of 2011'

We know that the Circle Pad Pro isn't the most graceful piece of kit that Nintendo has ever put out, but is it really one of the tech industry's biggest blunders of the year? It's an add-on that isn't necessary for any game out there. It's only for those that want the second circle pad, which is something I'm sure Nintendo will introduce in the first 3DS redesign. If you don't want to buy a redesign, you can spend a mere $20 to update your 3DS.

Sure it's ugly and it adds some bulk, but I don't think it's a complete disaster. The real question is, why didn't Nintendo include a second circle pad from the start?
