GN Version 4.0
A portion of an FN interview with Shin'en's Manfred Linzner...

FN: You've been really silent regarding Nintendo's upcoming home console. Considering your loyalty to Nintendo systems, can we expect some Wii U projects revealed anytime soon?

ML: We developed for almost all plattforms that Nintendo released in the last 13 years. You can be confident that we always look very closely to new systems that are coming up from Nintendo.

FN: FAST Racing League was awarded twice in our GOTY 2011 article (best Wii Racing game and best WiiWare game) and had a considerable critical reception. The futuristic vibe, astonishing visuals and phase shifting feature blowed our minds and we're dying for a sequel. Have you considered taking this series to a full retail racing galore?

ML: FAST has really many fans on Wii and we got quite a lot of emails that we should bring that game to 3DS retail. We thought about that when we got our 3DS devkits, tho we currently feel that we would need to add something really impressive and fun to justify a sequel to the game. We don't want to do the same again just with more content.

FN: What about eShop? Is there any chance of us experiencing the speed of light races in 3D greatness?

ML: We are close to the launch of our first eShop game, and three more eShop games are in production at Shin'en. FAST is currently not on the list i'm afraid but we don't rule that out.

We hope anyone not familiar with FAST so far should check out the demo that is available on the US WiiWare shop!

Although praised for its technical details, Jett Rocket on WiiWare received some mixed reviews. Have you been taking the criticism into account while developing the 3DS counterpart?

ML: Jett Rocket was our first 3D jmp'n'run ever and we are very proud of it. Overall we got a lot of praise from the press and fans. In fact we still get many emails from people asking when the sequel is coming.

Like in every game there is some justified criticism, but when Jett Rocket would have been released on PSN or XBLA i think critics would have been very differently. On Wii it was simply compared to one of the best games ever, Mario Galaxy 2, which was released at roughly the same time.

When people will see a new Jett Rocket game i think they will be very suprised what it has to offer.

FN: Still regarding Jett Rocket, is there any chance for a direct sequel in the future, or are you done with the platform genre?

ML: I think we will never be done with the plattform genre, because we love it ourselfs just too much.

FN: Any new plans for the eShop or retail market?

As said, we work on a number of eShop games and also prepare a new retail game. More of that will be revealed in the upcoming months.
