A portion of a Nintendo-Gamer interview with Roger Barr of Team Abobo...

NG: Why did you decide to create Abobo’s Big Adventure?

RB: We grew up on the Nintendo Entertainment System and have countless fond memories of the games on it. It’s crazy to think that younger generations will not only not grow up without that system, but many of them will never even try the games. These are the classics we’re talking about here. And many of those classics are still alive and well in huge 3D games today, but people should experience where they originated from.

So to me, it’s both a love letter to the NES and a way to introduce younger generations to a huge variety of games that they would otherwise never have a chance to experience. For older gamers, I hope it brings back a flood of 8-bit childhood memories; for newer gamers, I hope they see just how amazing those classic games are, and are encouraged to seek out and play them.
