StreetPass NYC is kicking off its “Summer of Square-Enix” program this July with a celebration of both the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Final Fantasy series and the launch of the critically acclaimed rhythm game “Theatrhythm Final Fantasy this Saturday, June 7th and The Creek and the Cave (10-93 Jackson Ave., Long Island City, New York 11101 www.thecreekandthecave.com).

Starting at 2:30pm and ending around 5:30pm (A simple trip on the 7 Train or G Train (via the L) will get you a block away from the venue), New Yorkers will have a chance to show off their enthusiasm for the Final Fantasy franchise outside of StreetPass. The group will be hosting a Final Fantasy Trivia Contest starting at 4:00pm, with the lucky winner receiving a $20 eShop card so they may spend it on the upcoming Theatrhythm Final Fantasy DLC or any of the amazing Virtual Console games coming during the 8-Bit Summer!

Additionally, Final Fantasy music spanning twenty five years of memorable tunes from the Four Fiends to One Winged Angel will be blasted from speakers for all to enjoy. As a final treat to attendees, StreetPass NYC will have a huge projector with the Gamecube version of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and up to four Game Boy Advances connected to the system. This is a rare opportunity to the play Crystal Chronicles four player multiplayer mode like the developers originally intended.

The group hopes you join them in celebrating twenty five years of Spoony Bards, Ultima, Esper Summons, Limit Breaks and Belts & Zippers. Later releases in the “Summer of Square-Enix” program including Heroes of Ruin (demo out now for the Nintendo eShop) and Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be announced at a later date. A separate event for Sega’s “Rhythm Thief and the Emperor’s Treasure will be announced sometime next week.
