“Using the Wii-U game pad and microphone, players could still keep in contact with one another via voice chat (as if they were actually flying the ship). This is an example of why we were targeting the game for the Wii-U. We would design in features which would be exclusive to Nintendo products. If we didn’t get the approval, we would have just omitted them from the game until we did, then release an ultimate edition for their platform. Nintendo is an extremely innovative hardware developer comparable to the likes of Apple. I have ALWAYS wanted to make games on Nintendo hardware since I got interested in game designing.” - Dead Pixel Entertainment’s Ravi Jayant

Star Beast is currently in limbo, but Jayant says that the team will return to development some day. Right now they're working on two PC projects that they hope to bring to Wii U/3DS some day.
