LEGO City Undercover - tons of new info

GN Version 4.0
- play as Chase McCain, a slick undercover cop
- he's hunting down Rex Fury
- Chase’s love Natalia Kowalski has been placed in witness relocation
- Chase blows her cover
- the police station is the hub for the game
- explore all parts of it, from the upper offices to the basement
- in the basement, Chase can access a range of outfits and cars
- these are gradually unlocked over the course of the game
- once Natalia is exposed, the police chief calls you into a briefing, along with LEGO City’s other star detectives
- this includes familiar faces like Starsky and Hutch, Harry Callahan, Columbo and Sherlock Holmes
- gameplay involves finding clues, following leads, and taking down enemies
- use the GamePad as a communicator and scanner
- toggle between various outfits, each of which grant Chase special abilities
- Police Blues allow you to access the GamePad’s scanning function
- Chase's in-game scanner looks like a GamePad
- this will cast a UV glow onto the ground beneath his feet
- hold the GamePad up and search for criminals or special building blocks hiding from view by looking around the roo
- eventually earn a grappling hook, allowing you to access new areas
- unlock a Thief outfit which lets you break into safes and locked areas
- commandeer any vehicle you see
- this includes sportscars to lumbering trucks
- cars feel a bit slow, but handle in a very distinctive way
- patches of blue-and-white tiles dotted about the environment are ‘action’ tiles
- these let Chase McCain display his super-cop credentials
- they make him much more agile, quick, and strong
- in one part of the game, chase a robber across a skyscraper rooftop
- Chase will be sliding under obstacles and vaulting platforms and ziplining between buildings
- take eneies down with a single punch or a well-timed throw
- you can go into handcuffing them with a swift button mash
- Albatross Island is similar to Alcatraz
- meet ‘Blue’ here, a long-time inmate of the facility with a voice like Morgan Freeman's
- eventually visit the warden’s office
- mission ends with Chase building a record player and broadcasting the uplifting sound of Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro to the inmates
- draw-distance has improved since E3
- still some pop-in, with trees and lampposts still appearing from nowhere
- lots of voice acting
- Ellie Phillips, who frequently contacts you on the GamePad, has a Southern drawl
