Nintendo's hard path to third-party support in 2013

Since the N64 days, Nintendo has always had trouble with attracting third parties. It's a catch-22 for the Big N. They want third parties, third parties don't want to bring their big brands over. Third parties do half-assed ports and party games. When they don't sell, third parties cite them as the reason why they don't support Nintendo platforms more.

How is Nintendo supposed to get over this slump? Is this going to continue being an issue with the Wii U?
