WayForward was working on 'Pictionary Universe' for Wii U, now cancelled

Coming from the Linkedin Profile of Brian Valdillez...

Man, that really sucks. I am a HUGE fan of uDraw Pictionary. We play it at almost every family gathering. Bummed to see this project was cancelled, especially with the awesome idea of Miiverse integration.

And not a single thing of value was lost that day.

Perhaps this is a prelude to Nintendo removing the gamepad requirement from Wii U. ;)

Aw man, that could've been pretty cool. I bet they have their reasons, though.

Good, why do people even consider trash for the Wii U or any video game consoel for that matter? Everyone knows for a fact that pictionary on the Wii U would get crappy scores. Pictionary Universe would bring Wii U's Metacritic score down.

There is no point in bringing a game to a console that maybe 2 people will pick up and actually think is pretty cool...

It could of been good, at least THQ didn't repackage a game from one or even two years ago and sell it as this years' edition. Right EA?

Why would it be necessarily trash? For one thing Wayforward usually makes good games and pictionary is a good game. Just because a game isn't hardcore or perfect doesn't mean it shouldn't exist and most people don't care about a systems metacritic score. There are far more people who would play pictionary than would be saddened by the .01 decrease in the systems metacritic score.

Also Pictionary is pretty much already on the Wii U. Try Game & Wario. It's got a mode that's pictionary in every way but official name and it's awesome.

"The Metacritic score is low. Therefore its not fun"
Some of the best fun I've had in gaming comes from Mario Party. Yet that's not receiving 9s or even 8s.
I wonder what they were thinking exactly with this title. I had fun with Game and Wario's form of Pictionary, but what would Wayforward put in their package?

i know i could have used an easier built in pictionary than the made in wario one. It's a great one, it only need easy language switching; it should really be standard for europeans

It would be trash, because it's pictionary. There is absolutely nothing they could do to make it worthwhile. Even if it were free, it would be a waste of time. Just buy pictionary from a store and play it that ONE time at that ONE party you throw. Seriously, no one ever plays boardgames or word games like pictionary more than once. Wayforward could focus their efforts on something a little more suited for a Wii U console and less on something that could be on an IOS device.

No, I don't think low Metacritic score = not fun. I think low Metacritic score = less sales which in turn means lower install base for Wii U. The PS3 should NOT have had a better Metacritic score than the Wii U in 2013.

It's EMBARRASSING and nullifies the hardwork that went into making amazing games like 3D World, Wind Waker HD, Rayman Legends, and Lego City.

Someone needs to pick this up.
The idea combined with Miiverse is too good to be forgotten like that.

An online Pictionary on Wii U (or 3DS) would be awesome!! I used to play 'draw my thing' and another similar site which name I forgot, so much fun!

Lots of dicks though, might be the reason Nintendo decided to pull the plug after the Swapnote fiasco??

Really, this is something worth? Pictionary?

Sorry i have my table game and even that it's boring having real people playing, so who cares.

I don't want the Wii U to be another Wii U, with 75% of really useless games.

Judging from the dislikes, apparently, there's people liking bad games.

This and the contest news made me realize how many people have nothing to do but bash Nintendo, bravo internet you're growing down, yeah not up for sure...

Some narrow minded posts here.

It's too bad. It could have been fun. Especially if there was an online component.

Saves on paper too.

Wario Ware has a Pictionary(among other things, obviously), and that alone is worth its current price. Perhaps Wayforward knew this and decided to avoid competition.

I would buy eShop Pictionary even though I have Wario Ware.
