Coming from Capcom's Chris...

"Before I start, I wanted to thank you guys for sharing your thoughts in such a courteous, mature way. That's the kind of thing that makes our day!

Okay, so I believe the original question was "Why didn't Capcom ask fans before releasing Dual Destinies digitally?" I certainly hope you didn't feel mislead in any way by filling out that survey. As surveys are, they’re a means to get opinions for various possible situations and temperature check on how people are feeling about a specific topic.

The purpose of the survey in regards to Dual Destinies specifically was to see if fans would consider purchasing digitally as a possible option. An option that would eventually mean that Capcom would be able to expedite a Western release as soon as possible. As Sven also related in the past, we desperately wanted to avoid another situation of fans waiting an eternity for a US/EU release, or worse, not getting a game at all.

Your thoughts and feedback are crucial to what we do here and held at a super high priority, but as you can see by the folks who chimed in within this very thread, there are still many additional (usually the unglamorous and “businessy”) layers to consider when releasing a game.

To put it another way, the voices of Capcom fans, here on Unity or elsewhere, are INCREDIBLY important. We most certainly do take deep consideration of what we hear from fans. Your feedback is what often helps us determine what we look into. We also ask you to understand that there are a ton of factors we consider, we do take your feedback very seriously, and do our best to combine all of these factors into the decisions we ultimately make.

While we can understand some of you may have reservations about a digital version, again we can’t reiterate enough how hard we are working hard to bring this title to the west as soon as possible. And personal platform preferences aside, digital is a really good place for Phoenix to be and we hope to be able to prove that to you with some good news very soon."

Thanks to Matt for the heads up!
