GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - SteamWorld Dig is super addictive!

Man, what a wonderful feeling it is to find a new game that really tickles your fancy. It was a title that wasn't really on my personal radar, but I was very wrong to not be excited for it. Read all about my adventure below! See you in a few, short hours!

I'm going to be completely honest here...as I always am. I know a lot about SteamWorld Dig from posting up content on GoNintendo. Outside of that attention I paid the game, I didn't think it was a game for me. It just didn't seem like something I would enjoy. The descriptions, screens and footage didn't really jive with what I usually enjoy. Thankfully, I saw something that convinced me I should give the game a shot.

Our friend NintenDaan did a wonderful quick look at SteamWorld Dig, which shows you what the game is really like. While I was checking that out, I slowly realized that the title actually looked awesome. It wasn't anything like I thought it would be. I don't know if that's because of the promotional content that was put out or my own ignorance (much more likely), but the footage above helped turn my opinion around.

After that, I started listening to some audio interviews on the game. I came to learn about the random design elements of the game. There are certain chambers that are going to play out the same in every game, but a much larger portion of the title is all about random design. No one is going to have the same overall cave design or layout. You'll have different obstacle placement, treasure lots, enemy positions and more. SteamWorld Dig will be a largely unique and different experience for all.

I've put in over 3 and a half hours with the game so far...and I can't stop playing. I am 100% addicted to this title. In my opinion, it is a fantastic mix of Minecraft and Metroid. You get the digging, random nature and item management of Minecraft, mixed in with the upgraded abilities and platforming of a Metroid title. Holy hell, is it an addictive concoction. I seriously had to pry myself away from the game to finish up tonight's round on the site.

Trust me, even if you think this game isn't for you, check out the footage above. If any tiny bit of you likes Metroid or Minecraft, you're going to get enjoyment out of it. I'll have a full review fairly soon, but just know that it's going to be very positive!
