Snooping around Nintendo's E3 site reveals mention of 'new Nintendo system' (UPDATE)

UPDATE - Nintendo has since removed this blurb from the source code...

Coming from the source code of Nintendo's E3 site...

I don't know what to make of this, but it's certainly interesting. As if E3 speculation wasn't crazy enough, now we have this tidbit to wrap our heads around! Thanks to VGAMER for the heads up.

It's their Quality of Life initiative. Nintendo has already tested it on Sakurai, now they are ready to sell it to the masses. Now we will all be immortal and Nintendo and exploit our nostalgia for all time!

Get ready for Nintendo's stocks to drop because people set themselves up for their gamer-pride-hype for a new massively-overpowered system, only to be thoroughly disappointed when it's a system-revision or something-different designed to pull in more casual gamers.

I'm pretty sure this is for the SEO

Well, they can't call it the Wii U2. That'll get them in trouble.

I'm thinking that this may be around the time for a new 3DS model.

They are meta keywords for search engine. If someone search 'new Nintendo system', he will find the E3 page. Maybe leftover from previous years or just a popular keyword.

The fact that they are search keywords doesn't invalidate the fact that there could be a new console announced at the show.

Remember that these search keywords are there to make it easier to find the website before, during and after the show is over. If there is in fact a new system announced, someone could hypothetically see a tweet about it and google "new nintendo system" to find out more information. And boom, you're directed to Nintendo's E3 hub.

However, this particular keyword could be part of a number of other generic keywords leftover from other years and could be referring to the Wii U or 3DS. But the fact that it has been removed only strengthens the other theory. This assuming that the leaked image is true.

Sorry guys. I don't mean to kill your hype but I grabbed this off the archive of the E3 2012 site

<meta name="keywords" content="nintendo e3, nintendo, e3, e3 2012, nintendo e3 2012, nintendo e3 presentation, e3 presentation, wii u, wiiu, 3ds, new nintendo system, new nintendo console, wii at e3, nintendo 3ds at e3" />

http://web.archive.org/web/20120530015930/http://e3.nintendo.com/?

And the E3 2013 one

<meta name="keywords" content="nintendo e3, nintendo, e3, e3 2012, nintendo e3 2012, nintendo e3 presentation, e3 presentation, Wii U, new nintendo system, wii at e3, nintendo 3ds at e3" />
http://web.archive.org/web/20130605002620/http://e3.nintendo.com/

I'm sorry...I'm so sorry

Sure, Serebii. Try to cover it up. We all know you leaked this with your massive amount of inside info.

You're right actualy, thats a general code data, looks like leftovers from previous E3's, including the wii, which hasnt been at E3 since 2012 or earlier

Helping what? It's really a nothing story. Just poking a little fun at something that isn't a big deal and will remain as such.

don't know what to think of this. I just won't think about it.

It will be nothing more than the "QOL" thing they were talking about, or perhaps another new model of 3DS. I VERY highly doubt they will be unveiling a new portable, and CERTAINLY not a new home console, this year. I would not seriously expect a successor to Wii U to be announced until 2016.

So people should probably get any such notions out of their heads for the immediate future. Nintendo, if they're smart, and I think they are (problems notwithstanding), will ride the Wii U out, and stick with the platform.

Wii U rebranded as something else without the game pad

Nintendo would only do that if they wanted the Wii U to sell even less. The one thing that sets you apart from the competition and removing it would stick the final nail in the Wii U coffin. Without the gamepad it's just an underpowered console with barely any third party games. And I've seen lots of people suggesting that's what Nintendo should do :lol:

If this is purely for website searches, then why did Nintendo remove those words? Something as benign as web searching shouldn't have caused them to scramble to remove it.

That's interesting. I wonder what this can be.

Yes, but you poke a lot of fun in the 'Wii-U is finished' way. ^^ Just sayin'.
