Watch_Dogs hitting Wii U this Fall

The launch of Watch Dogs on consoles and PC was accompanied by the release of a free companion app, ctOS Mobile. The app allows gamers to connect with the Watch Dogs universe from anywhere, at any time, and is designed to enable revolutionary dual-screen gameplay, or even to be enjoyed as a standalone experience without the main game. ctOS Mobile has already been downloaded and played by more than one million people**. Watch Dogs will also be released on the Wii Uâ„¢ system from Nintendo in Fall 2014.

Just as long as it's not as buggy as the other versions, sure.

Poorly made game. I'm skipping it. Might get it on Steam sale one day for like $15 max.

They could implement this ctOS in the Wii U version, but with their support stopping, of course they won't.

By then, will Wii U owners still care? Most will be overlooking it and I don't blame them.

If they fix the bugs, due a lot of optimization work, and implement good Wii U specific features, I might pick it up.

Otherwise I'll ignore for Smash, Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors.

dear Ubisoft,

I know you gave your minor projects to Ubisoft Bucarest to save money.
So you did with Assassin Creed 3 and 4 for wiiu.

but quality is money...

and if AC34 and AC4 just were a "scholastic" ports from ps3 I think is time to close Ubisoft Bucarest...really...

Oh, so months after everyone else will have gotten to play it, and months of opportunity for Wii U owners to do likewise if they own one of those other systems? Nobody is going to care by then. It'll be like the Deus Ex release, under the radar and hard if not impossible to find in-store.

Sometimes I think they purposely screw up their Ninty releases to give themselves excuses to end support.

I still got my Wii U preorder for it. I'll be getting it day 1.

Unfortunately, it's others potentially having this kind of attitude that may or may not sink the Wii U version, which may or may not curb Ubisoft's future support. Sub-par, overhyped game or not, if people want to see third parties like Ubi support Wii U, then Watch_Dogs needs to at least sell "okay".

The Ubisoft Cycle

Hype up game, put release date.
People preorder.
Delay game for a couple months.
People cancel preorder
Release game when 30 other games come out.
No one buys it.
Complain about lack of Wii U install base and poor sales.
Pull support.

For that matter, the wii u version would had been crushed by Mario Kart if it was released alongside the rest of the console versions. In either way, there was no chance for the game to sell well.

I'm glad it's "reconfirmed". I'm optimistic it'll be a good port, and I'm looking forward to see the Gamepad's features detailed.

Also people that say that the AC III & IV ports on Wii U were crap, need to actually PLAY the games.

@alugox
Framerate drops and screen-tearing are evident. They're not good ports.

Naval combat it's flawless on my AC games. And I would say I only noticed framerate drops in less than 10 ocassions, mostly when there were over 60~80 NPC at the same time.

In my playthrough there were at most 5 or 6 times, where I encountered glitches that made me repeat a mission, but that's hardly something to complain about.

5 to 6 times? That's a lot. You're okay with playing a buggy mess? Be my guest. But you should at least realize that some of us have standards.

@OmnipotentSwine
To be fair, I've been playing AC4 on the Wii U and so far it's been running smoothly for me. Can't say the same about AC3 though, now that one was a sloppy port.

When a 40 hour game forces me to go back or hit restore during a mission 5 or 6 times, I'm not going to be mad about it! That means of the +150 missions, only in 5 or 6 times I encountered a "serious" bug, which it's fixed by clicking Start - Reset/ Restore. Completely forgivable in my book.

@OmnipotentSwine

To be fair AC3 was not a very good port but AC4 runs great.

The only big glitch in AC4, that I experienced, is the glitch where your ship sinks/flies/vanishes into a vortex while you're on that one island. That glitch is hilarious though, so no complaints!

Well, it would semi-make sense that ACIII wouldn't be flawless, considering it was likely at least a somewhat rushed port. At least they got it out more or less alongside the other versions.

yes

BUT

guy of Montreal first said that game was in developing on wiiu in Montreal in march 2013

then in november 2013 said that they finished the old gen versions (wiiu version was counted in old gen) but they decided to release also for next gen

then said that wiiu version was given to Bucarest...

then CEO of Ubisoft said in investors meeting they will delay only the wiiu version ,this after some IDIOT in GAMESTOP Italy said the game was cancelled.
( and some un-professional sites like Wiitalia, Gamesurf ect took the news for true without checking directly with ubisoft reps)

and now they said that game will be out in fall 2014...

is this company serious?

i think not...

they are clearly taken the EA way...

UBISOFT = EA french version... :lol:
