First up, let's take a listen to the 'store' theme in Earthbound...

Now let's have a listen to this piece from a 1927 'Our Gang' short film...

I'd say that piece shares some pretty spot-on similarities. Certainly seems like this 1927 piece could have had some influence in the composition of the store theme.
