Then why don't they put it on the same page as everything else?

At this point, I hate just about every third party I can think of except Sega and maybe Capcom.

These versions are probably cheap to make and easy to break even despite supposedly selling very little so it's worth putting them out just to keep their dedicated Treyarch Nintendo team busy. Given the ridiculous amounts this series brings in year over year, it's not like they're having to pinch pennies. Also isn't the Pro Controller basically a 360 pad rip-off because Activision wanted it and Nintendo wanted Wii U to be the CoD player's choice machine so they made it to please them? Seems like a strong relationship that could easily be kept going just by throwing Nintendo a bone with an AW port (on top of Skylanders, of course).

Activision have very rarely given a crap about Nintendo versions on the marketing side (not on the actual games themselves- the ports have always been nothing short of stellar) so to see some stealth announcement of this won't be too surprising. Ghosts, arguably the biggest third party game to hit Wii U last year was announced via a tweet on Nintendo's Twitter account so...

I don't know why Activision keeps doing this. Doesn't it hurt sales a bit to say "Oh yeah, Wii U version" at the last minute?

Congratulations! You've made me a very unhappy gamer, Activision.
Was this your intent all along?

I remember last year that Activision stated that they had to wait for Nintendo's approval on something before they could initially make their announcement on the game. Perhaps maybe the same thing is happening again?

So, there is going to be a Wii U version? I'm so surprised...not really. Not at all, actually.

Also, I don't remember any professional sitting down with either Nintendo, Activision, or any other third party company and asking them why it happens.

Why Nintendo consoles?

Do they believe that the way they announce or don't announce their games on Nintendo consoles is right for business?

What do they truly think about the gamers who own Nintendo consoles?

Why are they treated differently when many of them enjoys playing the same kinds of games on PlayStation and Xbox consoles?

Why aren't they trying to build a fan base on Nintendo consoles?

If this is all Nintendo's doing, then WHY are they doing it? What's their logic behind this?

I'd actually like to know that too. It doesn't make any sense and it only hurts them in the long run.

I am really really tired of this attitude from Activision. If the game is not coming to wii then say so! instead they give weird vague answers like "maybe who knows I dunno".

Like 4 years doing this over and over again. what's the deal here?!

It could probably just be a template since the source code shows that is from a cascade style sheet file that can be used in any product page

Cool, I'll pick this one up, the futuristic tech looks pretty fun.

Wasn't the Wii U listed in the source code for Destiny as well? See how well that worked out...

Well in that case, to better the website, at least to make it easier on my nerves and feelings, maybe GoNintendo should stick to actual Nintendo news. There is a huge number of news posts that have ended up being nothing Nintendo-related.

I'd GoNintendo become a more reliable place for Nintendo stuff. Wait for games to be confirmed, or we'll just have page after page of advertised Sony and Microsoft games that aren't coming to Wii U ever.

I'm less eager for this series to continue on wii u because of the whole splatoon thing, but still, I want to shoot at stuff with my wiimote ! Is that so hard to understand ? Of course, the online is leagues below the wii fps pointer games (ironsight!) even the "story" is not really interesting because they just insist on making the player use the magic ads ironsight bs , also no local 4players option. Weird again the wii shoo... oh wait there was only one but it was still cool. I guess bops II won't disappear from the rotation any time soon, neither will nintendoland. So anyway Cod might have an interesting local or online coop mode, and since it's going to allow the wiimote pointer. I'm hoping this is true.

To think i even bought splinter cell and deus ex, still wrapped. Batman and creed were enough to stop that foolish behavior.

in a few words : please be true (online - wiimote pointer - coop)

It could just be a case of copy paste. They don't rewrite the code for websites from scratch every time.

jasonmaivia wrote:Why aren't they trying to build a fan base on Nintendo consoles?

Because their fanbase plays the series on other consoles. Anyone who's dedicated to the franchise and looks forward to these games each year is almost guaranteed to have a PS or Xbox to play them on. Of course the Wii U edition (if it even gets ported) is going to be an afterthought to Activision. They'll slap some gimmicky/throw away touchscreen controls into the game and toss it onto stores so the Nintendo fanboys who're too proud to go out and buy another console can go out and get their shooter.

At the end of the day, their income is coming from Xbox(one) and PS3(4) owners, that's why they don't bother advertising the wiiU version. Just like Ghosts, BO2, and the other CoD's that came before, it will most likely get released on Nintendo and will sell only a handful of copies due to it's fanbase knowing that Live and PSN are the places to play the game.

It wasn't this way when the first PlayStation arrived. You'd think with so many "loyal" fans owning Super NES and Genesis, there'd be a better home for third party games on N64 and Saturn, but no. They had to start over with a new console brand unfamiliar to millions. They built a strong fanbase by heavily supporting the PlayStation and properly marketed their games, something that no one wants to do at all on Nintendo consoles anymore.

This happened again with the Xbox, but by then, Nintendo was already the odd one out (with the Dreamcast having quite a bit of support from Capcom, SNK, and others).

Now, every expects PS4 and Xbox One to have the same audience, so I'm sure these third party companies already have tons of games in mind for the future on those consoles....but ONLY those consoles.

Xbox One could end up with just a 1/16 of Wii U's install base and lower software sales, but ultimately, it will still have a lot more third party support behind them. That's the difference.

Did anyone believe it wouldn't come to Wii U?

Is this another phoning it in entry in CoD? Does anyone still enjoy these games? They all play identical.

Considering how poorly Ghosts did I've been having some doubts...

As for people still enjoying CoD, I still play Black Ops 2 a lot and the Wii U version is really really nice. It's a great pick up and play shooter and some modes are incredible in local multiplayer. That said, I had no interest in Ghosts because I've figured that once you have one CoD you don't really need another, like you said they all play pretty much the same. This one does look like it's changing things up though so I'm hoping it does land on Wii U (if it's good).

That's because Sony was a traditional gaming console and didn't involve touch screens or wii-mote like control schemes. You can't compare the two situations at all. Nintendo shot themselves in the foot trying to be so unique.

The Wiimote is PERFECT for shooters, though. It's one of the best control schemes you could have for a FPS next to a keyboard and mouse in my opinion.

Yeah, you could argue that. But shooters have become mainly about the online experience, and anyone who played a FPS online on the wii knows what a joke that was.

The CoD games on Wii were terrific online though. Obviously they didn't have the perks of a unified account like universal friends lists etc. and they didn't have voice chat until Black Ops but in terms of playing online they were nigh on identical to the other versions save for some sacrifices. I played all CoDs on Wii despite having a PS3 at the time and when Black Ops came around I picked it up on PS3 only to swap it for the Wii version the next day because I couldn't cope with the controls and had a blast online.

You didn't spend enough time with your PS3 copy then. Trust me, I thought the same about Medal of Honors Heroes 2 on wii, that was my first and only online shooter experience at the time, and thought it was amazing. Then I got a 360, tried CoD4 and realized how bad the wii's online was. In the wii shooters the reticle/response time of shots was so off and the whole thing was so laggy by comparison. I even remember my brother got the Conduit in hopes that they'd had improved online play, but that game was even more laggy so we dropped playing shooters on the wii all together.

Can't argue that. A good control scheme means nothing if the online multiplayer experience modern shooters are built on are crap. And Nintendo still can't do good online.
