Notch decides to get snarky with Wii U fans

It's always fun to knock someone while they're down, right? Also, it's great to belittle the work of hundreds of indie devs, basically saying their games don't matter/count.

IMHO it's tacky, that's all.

Oh so he's the Minecraft guy?
What a d*ckhead.

Of course they are, except that RROD was a real thing for people to laugh at. Nintendo having two games is a flat out lie. Plus RROD was making fun of the hardware. What this idiot is doing here is making fun of people. Which is not funny.

Here's an example: laughing at Nintendo because the only reason why they have no hardware issues is simply that they choose to go with last-last-gen components is fun. I do it all the time.

Laughing at Nintendo fans because they're so dumb to like a console that only has games for teh kiddiez is not fun because first it's a lie and second it's aimed at a certain category of people and trying to make them look stupid.

What the guy did there belongs to the second category.

Nothing wrong with gamers taking pot shots at the other systems, everyone is used to it... Console wars been going on for a long time and will continue. It's what you expect the Internet nobodies to engage in.

But it's classless for someone in the industry to engage in the console wars trolling. It's pathetic and shows a lack of tact. You would expect a little bit of professionalism from someone in the business, especially someone who has at least been successful.... Does he not think some of his potential customers on Xbox or Playstation don't own a Wii U? Does it not occur to him this behavior could negatively affect future sales on non-Nintendo systems??

This is the type of childish shovel I would expect out of EA. EA pulling this shovel has me to the point I will never buy another EA product on my PC or any other system I own. I can't support that behavior with my wallet.... I'm not buying product from people who engage in that behavior.

To be honest I don't really understand the joke. So it just comes off as some sort of weird statement. Unless you're being sarcastic?

Don't really care about the joke, but damn, I haven't heard about Notch/Minecraft in AGES! People still play that thing!? :O

I thought everyone would've gotten over the ugly, virtual lego blocks by now.

Come on man Minecraft is a pretty awesome game.
It's crazy how creative people can be in this game. A good part of the industry actually has a lot to learn from it.

It's still consistently around the top of sales charts in the West. It's pretty big.

Here's my issue. As a Nintendo fan, I am seriously sick of how accepted it is to make fun of Nintendo. Now, I'm not just saying that like "oh please, dont make fun of my favorite company!" it's more like, when people spread misinformation like this it backs up the public perception that the wii u is a failure and to stay away. That line of thinking hurts sales which then leads to less games coming to a system that I own and personally adore. This is especially true when it's a person of some pull or someone from within. Notch is a person of power... like seriously, no joke! Minecraft is massive right now and has been for years. Everyone knows the brand, from children and teens all the way up to their parents. So when he makes a joke about how few games are on the system it will reaffirm the public doubt and push them even further away. This is the same for large companies (EA, Ubisoft) and media outlets (IGN, Gamespot and the ever rancid pile of garbage, Game Informer). Spreading negativity and wrong information from a place of power, whether be joking or not, can have a real effect on my platform of choice AND it also keeps the ignorant ignorant. That's what I have a problem with.

He was joking.

I was about to post the same thing because I seriously can't believe Nintendo fanboys are taking this seriously but then again it's not like they got anything better to do besides acting like a bunch of debbie downers and negative nancy's.

oh well, time to play some Mario Kart 8!

The shovel thing isnt the joke. Its that people are still saying Wii U is the console with no games when PS4 is just PS3 uports and remasters until next year.

But you know, youre a fanboy for defending Nintendoand unbiased for defending Sony.

Huh. I stopped regularly visiting the major game sites (IGN, Kotaku, etc.) years ago, but I figured that it would still be mentioned on the various underground forums I visit (+ GN). Haven't heard anything in a while, plus most of my friends who liked the game lost interest a long time ago, so I thought it died out.

Although, now that I think about, I've have always seen it as one of the most popular streamed games on Twitch along with LoL/DotA...

You're a fanboy if you insist on dictator-like censorship on anyone who doesn't stick to the pre-approved Nintendo talking points. "All is well! [The next big first-party game] will turn it around! You don't need online play or trophies! Why don't you talk about Sony or Microsoft's faults!!!?"

It's sarcasm. If you jump down someone's throat over a sarcastic quip, then you have issues. Sarcasm doesn't need to be corrected. Notch doesn't literally think the console only has two games.

Nintendo's console is unsatisfactory to a large number of potential buyers and the only way to get Nintendo to change is to light a fire under its butt. Pleading hasn't helped. Bad sales hasn't helped. Maybe humor will help. The more important the person who uses humor, the better, because God knows Nintendo doesn't listen to its fans.

It's been consistently in the Top 10 NPD for months and probably sells millions of dollars of merchandise.

I've never played Minecraft myself, but lots of people still play it. It's in the process of getting ported to the systems that people actually buy...and Vita, too.

Reverse this and it would be a great way to sum up my previous post.
HE should grow up a little. His behaviour is a little bit pathetic to be honest and I'm glad some here realise that.
