A portion of an IGN interview with Reggie Fils-Aime...

IGN: We spoke to Miyamoto and we learned that Nintendo has, in his words, some really great Zelda footage, but chose not to show it at E3 this year. Could you talk a little bit about that decision?

Fils-Aime: That’s correct. It goes back to the statement I made earlier about how we view E3. We just fundamentally don’t believe in showing content at E3 that’s gonna be a long-term proposition. We like to show content that typically will launch within the upcoming holiday, maybe extending into the first half of the following year. At this point, the new Zelda for Wii U is not a 2015 project.

IGN: I understand why you observe that guideline, but that must be taken on a case-by-case basis? When you showed Zelda last year, I wouldn’t have believed that was a game that would’ve come out in Q1 or Q2, I would’ve thought that was a Q3 game.

Fils-Aime: When we showed it last year, we believed that it was a 2015 game.
