Nintendo yanking Mario tool-assisted speed runs/hacks from YouTube

Looks like Super Mario Maker is going to be the de facto way to create Mario levels...because Nintendo wants it that way. Nintendo's latest sweep through YouTube includes having videos of Mario tool-assisted speed runs and hacks removed from the service. Nintendo is certainly within their right to do this, but seeing the content disappear isn't making everyone happy. I understand that Nintendo wants to promote Super Mario Maker and doesn't want fans confused, but there has to be a better way to handle this besides outright removing videos. Would a disclaimer be possible?
