Happy 30th birthday, Mario

I cannot even believe that this day has come, but here it is. On Sept. 13th in Japan, all the way back in 1985, Nintendo released Super Mario Bros. on the Famicom. I wonder if Nintendo knew just how big of a moment that would be for them. I'm sure they expected great things, but Mario's mainstream success has far surpassed anything they could have imagined. The best part is, Mario is better than ever 30 years later!

If Nintendo never released Super Mario Bros., I may have never found myself in the job that I have now. I definitely consider Nintendo's creation/success of Super Mario Bros. instrumental in forming the life I've lived so far. It's fantastic to see Mario hit 30 years of success, but I would have never dreamed that this landmark date would be so important to who I am.

Thank you to Shigeru Miyamoto and all of Nintendo on their work with Super Mario Bros.. It created a pop-culture icon, a long-lasting legacy, a legion of diehard fans and personally, a way through like/career for myself. May Mario continue on for another 30 years...plus about a million more!
