GN Version 5.0

I know on Mondays we normally share our video content from last week, but I thought today was a special day. I'll get back to our regular schedule tomorrow, but today I wanted to dedicate to Tatsumi Kimishima. See you in a few, short hours.

As you already know, Nintendo now has a new president. With the sad, far-to-early passing of Satoru Iwata, Nintendo had to find itself another president. Today we came to find out just who that would be. In the image above is Tatsumi Kimishima, a man that may not be a household name for Nintendo fans, but he's certainly been a part of the company for a long time. He's worked in Japan and North America, and he certainly seems to be a good man to run a steady course during this tough time.

I'm not here to decipher what Mr. Kimishima's moves will be. I'm not here to discuss what I think he'll do for the company and how well he'll measure up. I'm taking this time to wish the man good luck in his position. There's no doubt that running the company is a heavy burden no matter what's going on, but taking the reigns after Mr. Iwata's passing is just that much harder.

Mr. Iwata was one in a billion. He was a man unlike almost all other company presidents. He lived and breathed Nintendo in ways that not many do. There will never, ever be a true replacement for the man that Iwata was. His shoes are not meant to be filled by another. While Mr. Kimishima will certainly take on the duties that Iwata handled, there's no one that can fill the void of Iwata's spirit and passion.

I'm sure Mr. Kimishima is very aware of that...most likely painfully aware. I truly feel for the man in this situation. He's been thrust into a situation where he has to keep a huge company running full-steam ahead, business as usual. That's an immense amount of pressure. I'm sure he also wants to honor Mr. Iwata's plans and work. We already know that Kimishima is going to move ahead with the path that Iwata laid out, but that doesn't mean it's smooth sailing.

Best of luck to you, Tatsumi Kimishima. I can't speak for all Nintendo fans, but I do know that most will welcome your work with open arms. Thank you for taking on this position after such an unfortunate event. May you have a wonderful career and find a way to both handle the business side of things and also familiarize yourself with Nintendo fans. I'm quite eager to learn more about you and see what you surprise us with.

Mr. Iwata will never be forgotten, but no matter how cruel it seems, time moves on. That means Nintendo must move on as well. Mr. Kimishima is here to stay the course. Best of luck to you in all that you have to take on, good sir.
