The Legend of Zelda: Tri Force Heroes lets you hop online to play multiplayer with two other people, but it turns out those people have to be in the same region as you. In other words, you won't be able to play with someone in Japan if you're living in the United States. This move was most likely done to keep the online connections as steady as possible.
