Dear Reader:
Japan - Minecraft takes #1 spot on Wii U eShop
Well that didn't take long at all. Minecraft: Wii U Edition has rocketed up to the top spot on the Wii U eShop charts in Japan. Rough estimates put the game at 77,233 total downloads in just 18 days. This is a pretty big deal, especially when you consider how Japanese gamers aren't as into digital downloads as NA/EU gamers are.
It's also very interesting to see how the Wii U version compares to the early sales of other platform versions of the game in Japan.
PS3 (6 days) 28,589 (or 34 days: 94,412)
Vita (26 days) 79,576
PS4 (32 days) 49,479
WiiU (18 days) 77,233
The Wii U's 18 day total has already bested that of PS4 and most likely PS3, and it seems like taking down the Vita version is pretty damn inevitable!
On top of ALL that, it seems that Minecraft has surpassed Splatoon's total digital sales. We don't have exact numbers on that now, as there's some fuzzy math going on. Once we have more concrete data, we'll be sure to update the post.
