GN Version 5.0

I cannot believe that this is an event happening in my life. This day is such an awesome day for me. It's one of those things you could never dream of in your childhood. I am absolutely honored to share the above screens with you and also confirm that Oddworld: New 'n' Tasty is still coming to Wii U.

I know that many, MANY people have feared that the game was going to be cancelled. We've heard all sorts of stories about the issues during development. One of the biggest hurdles seemed to be the actual file size of the game. Series creator Lorne Lanning famously stated that the dev team was having trouble fitting the game down into 8 GB's worth of space. Why was that an important number for the team? They wanted to make sure the game could be downloaded/played on a basic Wii U, without the need of getting a hard drive.

News of those troubles came up all the way back in Oct. 2014! I think the screens above prove that development continued on the project and some hurdles have been surpassed! We don't have hard details on the file size or how the issues were skirted, but we do have some of the end result. Also, I believe that the screens above are the very first to be shown of the Wii U version. We've had lots of screens from the game, but never any screens that were the target for Wii U or running on specs of a Wii U itself. I'm so happy to see that things are coming along!

Like I said, this is truly an honor to share with you guys. I am a huge fan of the Oddworld series. I always felt it deserved so much more love than it got. This remake is a chance to make that happen and bringing it to the Wii U is just the icing on the cake. To have the Oddworld dev team recognize my love of the franchise and bring these screens to me is too good to be true. It really, really is one of the highlights in my GN career. I hope that goes to show just how much I love the series...and perhaps convinces you to check out this game when it launches.

Of course, we'll be on the lookout for specific release date info and pricing. We'll try to get that to you as soon as possible. Also, we hear you should keep tabs on both the official Facebook and Twitter accounts for Oddworld. I think they're going to be a bit active later today!
