GoNintendo 'End of Day' thought - Who do you want in Super Mario Maker?

GN Version 5.0

There's still more to come from Nintendo's investor briefing. We're yet to see English slides/translations of the presentation, and we don't even have the Japanese Q&A transcript yet! Those goodies are sure to pour in over the next couple days and we'll be ready to cover them. See you in a few, short hours!

Nintendo has found another great secret to keeping their games alive and selling. While Nintendo titles are usually longtail sellers, there's another way to keep that momentum going and it comes from DLC. While we've seen Nintendo do both free and paid DLC, two of Nintendo's biggest Wii U titles have gone the free route. Both Splatoon and Super Mario Maker have been offering weeks and weeks of free DLC and it seems to be working wonders. I mean, what's not to like about new, free content?!

Super Mario Maker's free DLC comes in the way of 'skins' for Mario. As you well know, grabbing a question mark mushroom can transform you into a different character. It's actually just an outfit that Mario wears to make him look exactly like another character, and if you get hit it goes flying off. Still, for all intents and purposes, you're getting to play as all sorts of characters that have never appeared in traditional Mario games.

Just tonight we saw the announcement of Professor E. Gadd as the next addition to Super Mario Maker. While he may be a side-character in just a few games, I'm really happy to see him make the cut. I've always loved the look of the character and his antics as well. Getting to take control of him in the Super Mario Maker universe adds yet another wrinkle to the game, and another reason to fire up the game again and check out what's new.

There have been plenty of downloadable character skins added to the game, but there are still plenty more that could be coming our way. There's no doubt that more DLC is in the works for Super Mario Maker, but I'd like to know who you want to see! What characters haven't popped up in the game that you'd like to play as? It doesn't matter how obscure they are. We want to hear your top picks for Super Mario Maker costume skins!
