I've been watching this one go on for a couple days now, but it seems like it's finally time to talk about it. There's been a bit of hubbub in the Smash Bros. Melee competitive scene, with tournament player William "Leffen" Hjelte being the focus. Turns out Leffen was unable to obtain a 'P1' Visa in order to travel and play in the Smash Bros. e-Sports scene. The Visa was denied because the USCIS doesn't recognize eSports as legitimate sports. Now fans are aiming to help Leffen and all eSports players facing the same issues by petitioning the White House. The petition looks to have eSports recognized as legitimate sport, therefore taking care of the P1 Visa issue.
