I can't decide if this is awesome...Or lame...I'll say in the middle until I see more I guess

Looks better than what I was expecting. Full control of Pikachu. Free roaming-ish battles. Looks promising.

I dont know why, but seeing a gigantic chimchar wearing a bow as a news reporter really creeps me out....
as for the game, the battle parts look very promissing of what some fans wanted. that water race with Empoleon looked bad though.
nevertheless, interesting game to keep some eyes on.

Hello boys and girls!
@bighugesquirtle
Well, it looks kinda lame to me. The bit with Charizard looked kinda cool, but then, I'd rather have a game that focuses on that sort of gameplay. In any case, this game is fugly.

It was only a little footage, but I'm really excited about it. It has a nice flow...it's nice and smooth. I'm really happy you can directly control Pikachu, run around, and fight in those sorts of battles.
I'm really eager for some more footage. I think this could turn out to be something pretty cool if the rest of it seems to be as enticing as this chunk.

Haha, come on now, when was the last time you played an N64? This game doesn't look amazing by any means, obviously a pretty low-budget game, but I think you've forgotten what an N64 game actually looks like =P.
Basically: no need for the hyperbole.

I'd never get why people would hate on spin offs just because they're trying to do something different. I fail to see what would be so great about a regular traditional Pokemon game in 3D.
But whatever. The game looks okay but I'm not sure how it'll turn out. I just hope you can play as someone other than Pikachu.

I know graphics aren't everything, but my GOD did the landscape look horribly bad.. I mean 64 bad...
I'm sure the game is fun...probably short and simple, but fun... But man! lol...Seriously Nintendo just doesn't bother with graphics anymore... I can't wait till they slowly revert back to 8bit style for all their game.

OMG. Is this the real-time battle Pokemon game I've been waiting for?! It just doesn't seem to be done right...and the theme... Man.
October 17, 2009 at 8:40 pm
I thought the graphics were pretty solid sure not as good as galaxy but okay. Looks pretty fun I wish we were getting this just have to wait and see.
October 17, 2009 at 8:48 pm
I like the style of the game.
I don't see the "N64" you guys are talking about. Early Gamecube, sure, but not N64. This looks better than what I remember from the N64 Pokemon games (though Pokemon Stadium 2 did have good looking Pokemon models, but then again that game's environments were pretty minimal so thus they could devote plenty of detail to that stuff like Pokemon models).

The graphics don't look that bad.. it's only the environments cause the pokemon look better, though they could use some polish.
But I'm still amazed by that Pokemon running a TV show.

Errr. Very early Gamecube.
Pokemon is pretty much destined to not work on consoles. I don't know why Nintendo keeps doing this.

I like pokemon on consoles but that is only because I do not like handheld gaming I find it boring so thats why I play console. I also hate when nintendo relies on handheld for console games (battle revolution) because not eveyone has a DS or game boy and I hope this game doesn't take that route.

@purin
Looks like Gamecube to me.
The Pokemon are Gamecube and/or Battle Revolution. Pikachu and Lapras look good. That's one of the better Bulbasaur's I've seen Nintendo do.
The backgrounds, however, look like early-mid Gamecube.
Plus the game looks decently fun, even if not a main Pokemon title.

background is minimal yes, but at least its clean and not just crap looking. if the world is big with lots of locals it might not be too bad.

The battle system looks cool - makes it more like how they play out in the anime.
HOWEVER! The environmental design looks WAY too simplistic to me. If they up the textures and the detail, and get more/ interesting things on screen, it would benefit greatly.
P.S. WTH is this show? I thought I was tripping out.

@Totodile
The show is Pokemon Sunday, but without the usual hosts this time around from the looks of it.
This show runs weekly in Japan, and it's pretty much the only way besides monthly CoroCoro issues to know about new Pokemon stuff in Japan. They had HG/SS coverage throughout the entire Summer.

Wow... This game looks actually good. o_O Seriously, it's a 3D Platformer Pokemon game. 13 YEARS AND THERE'S NOT A SINGLE POKEMON PLATFORM.
On a side note, I'm happy/sad about the trademark. I'm happy because it's not a "Pikachu exclusive" title. It has PokePark on it, which is pretty generic (even based on the theme park) and could actually make a new series out of it. However, given that PokePark has not been in west, we can't know if this will come here...
Believe it or not, yes I have great hopes about this!
Wish it has more playable characters though...

@Ash_Pokemaster
This.
I really couldn't give a fig about its graphics level [seeing as this is Pokémon, not the likes of Zelda...]
I wish the graphics whores among you would calm down for a change [gameplay will always overrule graphics after all].
Also any game with a ridable Lapras is a win for me.

People will like this because it's Pokemon, right? I mean, if this game replaced the pokémon with something else, or was a third party game, it would be bashed, right?
@Ash_Pokemaster
I just want to know if this game didn't exist, and another game had the same gameplay and visual quality, if it would be accepted. I guess by your answer, that's a no.

@terryxlr
Right. Because this is totally not in Pokemon style, and would be perfectly fit to have a normal rat fighting dragons unleasing fire, and living in a land full of other animals. And stuff.
No, man. This game uses Pokemon's idea and style on something new, and I totally don't see why it would be the same game if it didn't involve Pokemon. I mean, everything, from gameplay to graphics to music would be different.
So, yes. Just like any Zelda game would be different without the Zelda world, Link, Hyrule; any Mario game would be nothing like the real thing without the Mario goodness, this game would be a little more ignored if it didn't involve Pokemon.

As far as graphics go it looks similar to the Colosseum games on the Gamecube, but they were so FAR from the best the Gamecube could put out, look at Starfox Adventures for example. It isn't about being a graphics whore, it is about wanting a game that looks as though the developers actually cared about it, Pokemon deserves a big budget for all of its successes.
On the gameplay side of things, I don't know but... they aren't aiming for much more than little kids here. It looks more fun (the battles in particular) than the previous Pikachu games but that isn't saying much.
Why couldn't they just make a new Snap...

The graphics look pretty primitive, but I'm sure the mostly young Pokefans probably won't care too much. It'd sure be great if Nintendo would start listening to everyone asking for a real Pokemon game on Wii.

You guys do know that this is a mini-game collection, and not a "platformer", right?
October 18, 2009 at 12:59 pm
@terryxlr
Well, mostly yes. But it is impossible to make the same game without Pokemon. What would be the point after all? Hell, isn't the character content of a game part of its quality? Also, this concept is hardly possible without Pokemon.
@dandancc
It's actually a platformer. Of course it appears to has a set of "mini-games" to make this reality, but apparently it is a platformer with action elements. Actually, I think that the "mini games set" came as a concusion of the description in the magazine article, rather than an actual statement. I'm not sure though.
Edit: Well, rethinking about it, it might not exactly be a platformer. XD
An 'action game' label probably fits it better. We can't know for sure though.
Still, it seems kind of good.

Well at least the combat looks engaging (unlike the increasingly stale, excruciatingly slow battles in the canon RPGs)

@Taraxanoid
>(unlike the increasingly stale, excruciatingly slow battles in the canon RPGs)
True for people that don't feel the heat battle. But then again this also states true for action combat system.
I myself find the battle pretty action paced, although they are turn-based.
