If you are going to read these story details for The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, then be prepared for some spoilers. If you don't want to read any spoilers, do not read anything below this line!

_____________________________

- Zelda dies within the first hour of the game
- Link can still see the 'spirit' of Zelda after her death
- Spirit Tracks picks up where Phantom Hourglass leaves off, with the pirates heading to new Hyrule...except it's 100 years later
- the inhabitants of Hyrule deal with an evil power called the Demon King
- during the 100 years that passed, an epic battle between the spirits of the land and the Demon King happened. The spirits managed to subdue the evil power, chained him down underground, and these chains were stretched across Hyrule. The chains became the Spirit Tracks, which the towsfolk used as railway transportation.
- Link starts out on a trip to Zelda's castle to be bestowed with a Royal Engineer job title
- Zelda gives you your title, as well as a secret note that warns you of Chancellor Cole, someone she wants to discuss through a secret meeting.
- Zelda needs your help to sneak out of the castle and discuss Cole, as well as the disappearing Spirit Tracks
- Link obtains his green tunic to better blend in with the castle staff, and then you control both Link and Zelda to sneak them out of the castle
- once you escape the castle, you meet Master Engineer Alfonzo, the man that trained Link
- Alfonzo used to be involved with the Hyrulian army, but left for reasons unknown
- As you ride the train to head to the Spirit Tower, Chancellor Cole hunts you down as the Spirit Tracks vanish from underneath your train. This is where he takes out Alfonzo, you...and Zelda. Zelda receives the worst attack of all
- Cole takes away the body of Zelda, as her spirit stays behind
- Link wakes up in Hyrule castle with Zelda's spirit. Zelda soon learns that she is dead, but Link is the only one who can see her.
- Zelda leads you to your sword, gives you some training, and then you head to the Spirit Tower
- Cole is using Zelda's body to bring the Demon King back to life
- your mission is to restore the Spirit Tracks by ascending the Spirit Tower and secure the Stone Maps.
- A sage is holding the base of the tower together, as the rest of the floors are falling apart
- You first need to get the Tears of Light, which allow you to hit Phantoms and get Zelda's spirit inside
- you no longer have to replay areas of dungeons like in Phantom Hourglass. The Spirit Tower allows you to use stairs to bypass previously completely floors
- double-tap the screen corners to roll

Yeah, not reading... I'm making a serious effort not to spoil games from now on.

...actually, do you think you could put the spoiler stuff "after the jump"? I don't want to accidentally glance at something while scrolling by.

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!

Some curmudgeon earlier was complaining how stupid the "spirit tracks" sounded and how they would just be there without explanation. Well suck on it! The spirit track's explanation is superb. This game seems to be quite story-rich, even for a Zelda title.

Also I freaking called it this morning: The Spirit Tower will be similar to the TotOK, but you wont need to go through previous areas that have been cleared. So it's just like a persistent mega-dungeon. I predict an epic final battle involving train sections and non-train sections where you're drawing paths for new spirit tracks that will reinforce or completely reshackle the "demon king". Double-tapping for rolls seems like it might work a bit better than rolling in PH

SO HYPED! (ooooooooooo damn RMC, def put the details behind a jump)

Ahhh so that's why the Phantoms are on our side now. Very, very clever.

And yes, for those with stronger wills than mine, put it after the jump!

Dammit, if it's from a preview article with details not embargoed by Nintendo, it's not a spoiler. If you want to completely avoid "spoilers", go live under a rock until the game comes out.

I'm sure in the end, Zelda will get her body back and what tells me this Demon King is Ganon?

@lockdale
He's still under water in old hyrule, with the master sword in his head. So as much as I hope it is, it's probally someone else.

Also demon king=demon.
Gannon maybe evil but unless he died he ain't a demon.

I do not think the demon king should be Ganon. Then again the demon king is the train and the train has a ganon face, so damn I'm just going to roll with it. I mean he is the demon king in the way that the spirit tracks are disappearing and the train all the sudden pops up.

@Traviswiifan

WW was supposed to absolutely end ganon, until that kid from the sword in the stone comes along and ruins everything

i just hope its not him, i LOVE ganny, but comon, that is just stupid.

if ganny was this demon king, they wouldnt have made it so obvious, so imma say, we are safe from ganny

So this is the new Hyrule...looks like this game might just clear up a few things in the timeline after all.

It could be that this "Demon King" is not Ganon, per se, but will somehow come to be known as the "new" Ganon. Maybe a reincarnation the way Zelda and Link are always reincarnated. I predict that by the end of the game all the Spirit Tracks will be destroyed (since, you know, there aren't train tracks all over the any other Zelda games) and the Demon King will be resealed by some different means.

I'm thinking the Demon King is Ganon.

Generally, Ganondorf is the only one not reincarnated, but there are definitely at least 3 Ganons throughout the timeline.

I'm glad this is the NEW HYRULE finally, thus effectively ending The Wind Waker's story in a trilogy, basically.

If anything, all of the Wind Waker games are all chronological, which is great. It's 3 games that are *definitely* in order without having to guess.

Awesome about the Spirit Tower, though.

Very saucy about the stairs and double tap rolls, those are both improvements on things I didn't like in Phantom Hourglass. Definitely sounds like it's going to be a great game.

Argh, I decide to read just the First Spoiler, and what is it? Zelda dies. Man I wish I hadn't given into the temptation.

To be honest, it's about time the ol' hag hit the dust, she almost died in Twilight princess, so I'm glad they've finally done away with her.

PS. In case written text doesn't carry the tone of my voice, I was having a bit of a joke about ol' zelda, I'm sad she's carked it, and hope she comes back to life by the end of the game.

The Demon King is clearly Piccolo.

Even though the train looks like Ganondorf.

Anyway, I avoided most of that after realizing that it was pretty much ALL spoilers. I'd appreciate it though next time if you'd post the non-spoiler stuff and the spoiler stuff separate, and follow the 'after the jump' suggestion made by other users.

I really just wanna know if there's a worthwhile story behind the train/train tracks, if there is, then I'm sold. :)

@rustycage LMAO piccilo ftw
DB and zelda have nothing to do with each if they did my mind is blown.

Maybe THAT'S why the timeline makes no sence, it's only ever been consider as it own timeline but add DB to the mix THAT WOULD MAKE PERFECT sense- l.o.l

Also chancellor cole is related to freiza, and tingle and hercule are faternal twins.

I'm still not sure about the whole train angle, but wow does that sound very much awesome. Much more in line with what I expect from the epicness of a Zelda game!

Also...are Link and Zelda......in immortal bodies or something??

@Mr Fap-Fap

There are different links/zeldas across the Zelda timeline. Several games do feature the same link.(The link in majora's mask is the hero from OOT, and the oracles games were each a half of one indecent in the series)
