November 16, 2009 by The News Team Filed Under: Nintendo in general

Remember when Charles Martinet updated his Twitter to let everyone know that he was recording voice work for a new Mario game that wasn't New Super Mario Bros. Wii or Super Mario Galaxy 2? It looks like GameTrailers TV host Geoff Keighley might be talking about that very game on his Twitter.

Someone introduces himself as "It's-a-me, Mario!" in a big holiday game, and it's not New Super Mario Bros Wii.

What else could Mr. Keighley be talking about? Is this game going to be revealed on GameTrailers TV? Even more interesting...this is a big holiday title?! Thanks to 8-Bit Jay for the heads up.

Well it's not too surprising to see another Nintendo game being announced a month or two before release now (*cough*excitebots*cough*). I just wonder, what is it? Maybe something that'll be announced on this week's GameTrailers TV?

@bonefish

Oh yeah, after what happened with the new Excitebike I guess this could be another "out of nowhere" Wiiware or DSiWare game.

Probably something on WiiWare. I know that Nintendo is known for revealing new projects only a few weeks before releasing, but this is ridiculous.

Perhaps he makes a cameo appearance in a game we already know about? Regardless, I'm looking forward to hearing what's up here.

Huh. My guess is another WiiWare game, but with Galaxy 2 releasing soon and NSMBW already out, that covers both fronts of Mario platforming...What the hell else could it be? A Mario sports game? And how well would that work on WiiWare, anyway?

Hm. Ah, well, not gonna fret over it for now, but ExciteBike has been a pleasant surprise, so I'd be happy to hear about another fun WiiWare game out of nowhere weeks before launch again.

I just hope Geoff isn't being a douche and is actually going to have something to show this week on this. Not outside of reason, either, given that they just did a Nintendo-dedicated episode where they revealed the big twist to Spirit Tracks.

Maybe GT and Nintendo are becoming a little buddy buddy right now?

I hope it's a sequel to Mario's Missing on Wiiware called Mario's Keys are MIssing. It'll be a 2-3 hr trial and error scavenger hunt game. A second player can help you by repeatedly asking you where you last saw them and offering a flashlight. WiiMotion+, WiiSpeak, Balance Board support confirmed. If you don't find the keys within 1 week of purchasing the game then Mario just stays home and watches porn

For example:
Wario Land Shake: announced May 28th 2008, released July 24th 2008.

Excitebots: announced February 26th 2009, released April 20th 2009.

Another Code R: announced October 1st 2008, released February 5th 2009.

etc.

I see. I guess it depends on one's definition of the word 'few' in 'a few weeks' then. Cause to me that's several weeks to a few months, depending on which example you gave.

I'm thinking that the "It's-a-me, Mario!" line is a big hint, because he says that that line will be said in the game and the only Mario I can think of where he actually says that is Mario 64. Another thing to think of is that he never says that it's a "new" game, just that it's a big holiday game.

I know I'm looking WAY too much into this, but dammit I'm enjoying myself.

That actuaclly sucks for you. MP gets hated because it was milked by Nintendo, but they're actually REALLY fun with a group of friends. At least the N64 ones were.

@be_very_afraid

Well, they've already remade it for the DS, and it is available on the Virtual Console. I know Mario 64 is awesome, but it'd be a bit too much, at least for now.

I think it has to do with ACII like KirbyGCN17 said.

I hope this doesn't mean Galaxy 2 is being pushed back to Holiday 2010. :(

(But I doubt it, since Nintendo has said they use E3 to showcase games coming within the next year, give or take a month or two. I still predict Galaxy 2 in Q2, and Other M in Q3.)

Oh, wait a minute.

It's Assassins Creed II. It's set in Italy and it's a big holiday game that comes out this week.

That's incredibly lame.

Don' get yourselves hyped up, gang. I'll bet money it's ACII.

Edit: ahh, it seems I'm not the first one to see that. Good job!

But if it isnt AC2, then it better be a true Paper Mario sequel.
