- SUDA51 on creating NMH:DS - "It's like taking a sh!t. A lot of things influenced No More Heroes - things I saw, or heard, and something that came from inside. Something that needed to be eliminated from my body, like waste. That's why I created No More Heroes."
- better AI this time around
- enemies attack depending on their weapon class
- Travis will pilot a giant robot at some point
- game city has been scaled down a bit, but now sports HDR and motion blur
- city is one and a half times the size of the original
- SUDA51 on NMH mini-games "The reason that I put these elements in is that it's a challenge to make a game, and so I want too make the player feel challenges to even play the game..."
- SUDA51 on the future of No More Heroes "I think this is the last NMH that is going to be developed on Wii. To expand NMH to new possibilities, we need a new platform. Wii is a great platform, but we've done everything we can with it now."

Thanks to godamnimglam for the heads up!

It doesn't suck at all!
Why?
No More Heroes DS CONFIRMED! :D
No, seriously.
Even if it releases on PlayStation 3, I wouldn't mind it. It would be great for the franchise to be expanced, and turn into a much bigger series. (I have a PS3 after all :P)

Still No More Heroes works MUCH better on Wii, than on any other console. And considering that Wii HD is one or two years away, I think that this time gap is only enough for one game at most.

Where did you get the idea that there will be a Wii HD? Or are you taking shots at whats his name Patcher?

Rofl@notion that the AI in HD twins is any better than the Wii.

There's never been good AI in any game ever.

NMH going to the 360 makes the most sense. I'd love to find out Nintendo took Suda aside and got him to make a launch title for their next system, but there's no telling how far away that is, and I'd rather have a new title than shackle him to Nintendo's platforms forever.

Guess we'll see.

Haha, ok MrBubbles. I'm sorry I don't believe that more power magically grants developers and programmers some higher form of ability to make AI suddenly that much greater like you seem fit to do.

Oh god, keep talking. You're digging your own grave and cementing your status as the village idiot on this place.

What else do you want to add to your resume?

Being confined with limited power is a problem, for heaven's sake New Super Mario Bros. Wii can't have WiFi multiplayer because supposedly that's it for the Wii.

If you HONESTLY, believe that more power on HD consoles doesn't equate to smarter AI then you are a fool. A foolish fool, if I may add.

Although I have a 360 sitting right here in my room I really don't think I would enjoy playing NMH as much on it. Part of the game is the way its so crazy and the little swipe at the end of the sword combo is really cool. I don't see how putting it on any other console could make it better...

I'd rather he just take a break from NMH after this game is released and bring it back next gen.

Taking a poorly translated answer into wholesome context. Awesome.

You're totally missing my point, and that's because you have no clue what I'm talking about. More power will allow higher AI function ONLY IF the programmers are actually capable. And they aren't. They have budgets and deadlines, and absolutely none of them are be given the time to sit around to tweak ferociously smart AI.

They've got the power to do it. But they aren't doing it. I played the hell out of COD4, which was a highly polished game, and the best the AI could do was simply overwhelm me with superior numbers and not shoot at my teammates during campaign missions.

Instead they'd just sit back, all fire at me, lob a few grenades in my direction, and constantly spawn.

That's not good AI.

If you honestly believe power is the only hurdle in the way of good AI, you're clueless.

I am surprised that most of you people think this means seeing the game on ps3 or 360 (or DS btw). Really, you seem really paranoid with all the fear of losing games.

Considering all things, I think the statement can equally be interpreted as seeing the next NMH in the next Nintendo console...definitely a predictable movement, three games in the same series without enough reinvention is downer if the console is not changed, see God of War, Metroid Prime, Halo etc.

The first game was already a button masher, it's not like it uniquely used the motion controls for things other than quick time events (which for some reason are ok in this game but not in others? Ok then?)

Let it go to other consoles, who cares.

That's because you're using a multiplatform title as an example.

But when the game is specifically designed to make the most out of the hardware for said console, we get for example a game like the Last Guardian on the Ps3.

I will concede for the time being....until the Last Guardian is released and I will be there to let you know that level of sophisticated AI isn't possible on the Wii.

More power = more room to breath in obviously.

I just thought you denied that claim, glad we got that misunderstanding out of the way. And you have to forgive me, there are characters on this website that are dead-set on hating the HD consoles.

My guess is the game after Desperate Struggle will be for the Wii's successor, but hey who knows. It is Suda's franchise and he is a third party, he doesn't have any real loyalties towards any company. Hell, remember NMH was originally going to be on the 360? (after the president of Marvelous Entertainment showed Suda the Wiimote, Suda thought the Wii seemed like a better platform to get the franchise started on.)

Next game could be on the DS, PS3, 360, or even the PSP. I just hope it's a system I own is all (like the 360 or DS).

True. Then again, Call of Duty's AI has always been lackluster. Heck, the AI of F.E.A.R beats the crap out of a lot of other games for the PS3, 360, and Wii, and that was a game released in ****ing 2005.

On topic, I wouldn't be surprised if the next No More Heroes appeared on the next Nintendo console. However, I'd appreciate it if Nintendo made the Wii last as long as they can, as I'd like to wait a while before getting yet another console.

Nope, in fact he's been singing praise/interest over the 360's Project Natal. And Microsoft does have a habit of buying out Japanese developers with money (FF13, Ninja Gaiden, Blue Dragon) for example.

I'd be more worried about Microsoft buying out the new No More Heroes just to be an ass. Many Japanese developers are tired of Microsoft's business practises, I only hope our Suda is above the temptation of monay.

"Oh that sucks D: I guess we were just a stepping stone."

Why does it suck? He never said that NMH is done on a Nintendo system, he just said they did all they could on the Wii. But with this one not coming out till 2010, and it take's two year's to make them, so the next one could conceivably come out in 2012 on Nintendo's next system. Either way, its no big deal where the next one comes out on. As long as NMH:DS does well on the Wii should be all that matters for now!

If he feels he's gone as far as he can on the console with this game, then you can't criticise him if he wants to change or wait for the next gen to come along. Doing a third installment on the Wii when he no longer feels creatively inspired would only make the game suffer. He's contributed one of my favourite games of all time on the console and a likely excellent sequel. I'm thankful for what he has done, rather than sad for what he won't do on Wii in the future. If he is confident enough to risk the expense of going HD, then I wish him well.

Someone giving their opinion and then backing it up with reasons isn't a troll, even if you don't like their opinion.

Someone calling another person an idiot and acting like it will be universally accepted the person they are mocking sucks just because they are the ones mocking them sort of sucks.

Maybe he won't be singing the praises of Project Natal when he realizes MS don't know how to make it do the things it showed at E3.

I'm not worried about him seeing this message since I found out recently he put me on his foe list (why he did it is beyond me, not once did I ever really insult him) so he can't see any of my messages anyway. I would almost be happy honestly if it used it because that would mean that MS magically made this into a finished thing.

When Mac OS X was announced and what features it would have, MS announced 'Longhorn' with features that would leave OS X in the dust and delayed it years and years until it finally came out with half the features, to be universally hated as 'Vista.'

Same thing here.

"The game's city has been scaled back a little bit, improved visually with motion blue and HDR lighting. Suda says it's closer to the game he wanted to deliver originally. Edge says the city is a lot more lively and the streets more populated. He describes it as one-and-a-half times the original."
So, in terms of land mass, the city is smaller. In terms of content, it's much bigger. HDR lighting, for one, which is normally only found on the HD consoles.

How can the city be smaller and yet bigger than the original?

It is hard to think much of the comment about it being the last one on the Wii for several reasons.

Gr-a-s-s-hopper takes freaking ages to make their games, so it isn't going anywhere.

Being on a HD platform would offer them nothing, except a higher resolution. They haven't even tapped what the Wii can do, and the combat would be nowhere near as visceral on a regular controller. No M+ on those platforms either.

The first NMH was disgusting on a technical level, the Dreamcast could have run better. This guy is not technically minded.

His games sell best on the Wii, NMH is proof of that. Killer 7 did better on the Gamecube too, the PS2 crowd didn't even touch it.

Actually, I'm not really worried about going to other platform. Besides, he says "think".

I think his approach is this:

First, he made 2 NMH for Wii and see if it works well. However, the sales are very disappointing.

Now, he make the, let's say third and fourth on PS3 and XBox 360, and if the sales are good, he would probably make NMH back to Wii due to PS360's high development cost. At then, not only Wii's sales are high, the sales for NMH on Wii will probably be high too.
