September 25, 2009 by The News Team Filed Under: Wii, Rumors

We'll keep this one marked rumor until we have 100% confirmation...

Now this is the way things should be. During an Activision/Blizzard press conference in Portugal, a slide for Modern Warfare: Reflex popped up that confirms WiiSpeak support. We even have a pic of the slide for proof!

IMG_0064_1.jpg

I guess the devs heard the public cries for WiiSpeak, and now we're getting it. That officially one-ups the last Call of Duty game on Wii! Thanks to Rony for the heads up.

Sucks I can't see those screens too well, I really need to know if Activision's not just talking out their @$$ when they call it "arguably the best looking Wii shooter." Those early screens did not help one bit (Red Steel 1 looks better than those screens, and it was a launch title!).

Would anyone say that it is wrong to expect online, but when you do have online, you have to make use of Wii speak, and that if you do, the game will definitely sell?

Cuz no online in NSMB is fine and Dandy. Some people even say online isn't that great or important, and then in another story, someone will say that a game needs to use wiispeak, as if just being online isn't good enough. Wiispeak shouldn't make a game an instant-buy.

Wow, that's cool. I wonder if they'll restrict it to just friend codes. It doesn't make sense too though, if a game is rated M there should be no need for friend codes at all, considering the players should be (young) adults at least, and if not, it's their parents fault for not putting on a parental block.

Speaking of online speaking, I hope someone comes up with some sort of headset.

Usually, I hear Nintendo fans saying that as though it's better not to even have voice chat as an option. Let's hope you're not one of them, or you'll have a crazy, unfocused What rant on your hands fo sho dawg (and if you don't believe me... check my post history. Rant city up in there).

Thats great and all, but there's a problem... WII SPEAK SUCKS! Every time I play with my friend on the Conduit, I can't even understand a word he is saying! I can even hear his TV on my end and Wii Speak is SUPPOSED to filter it out. He turned it down and still, his TV sounds went through. So really it doesn't make a difference to me. Maybe if Nintendo would make a HEADSET I would be much happier.

Kind of. I talk to my online buddy through skype, but we are usually on the same team, a splinter group. I have zero interest in talking to random people online. I've tried it on PC games like TF2 and it just annoys me.

As long as adding Wiispeak doesn't hurt any other aspect of the game, like dropping below 30 fps then it's fine that it's there, I just won't use it.

Yah, as long as Wiispeak being in the game doesn't drag down performance all around, I'm fine with it being there.

Who knows, if they bundle it with WS for an extra $10, making it a $60 game, that could be a very good move by Activision and Nintendo to get at least another million WS's into hardcore users homes, and deliver an online play experience closer to what people might expect from COD4.

That would really be the icing on the cake, I don't know why more people don't argue for a better local multiplayer experience? Tis interesting that this persuades people into getting a game [a 2 year port no less], when no one has even seen any gameplay footage yet, and it's mere weeks before release.

Surely I can't be the only one who hears alarm bells resonate with any mention of this game?

To be fair, I assume that such comments are only self-fan induced hype and that they'll fade by the time anything of substance is known about the game [probably the week before release as things appear to be going]. If not then, well... I want nothing to do with such folk.

I'm not buying, but people looking forward to this have good reason to be excited. Last years game, WAW, is the starting point in terms of graphics and game play. This years edition sports faster frame rate, Wiispeak and more online game modes. As long as they didn't screw up the basics that last years Wii port got right, then it should be good times ahead.

Cannot wait. I just played some multiplayer Conduit this morning - so bad, my brother's (who never plays games) first comment was "pretty bad graphics aye". Single player is leagues better than the multiplayer. So much lag, basically impossible to shoot anyone; I was spraying someone and then I ran away, then literally four seconds after I stopped shooting, the other guy died and gave me a kill. That would NEVER happen in COD - they know what they're doing. High Voltage are still noobs when it comes to making games work.

I see it's being listed as rumor now. Oh well, lack of WiiSpeak won't affect MY decision, at least. What will affect it will be the gameplay, and whether or not if the graphics at least match up with World at War. I already forced myself to put up with Far Cry: Vengeance, I'm not going down that road again (long story short: FC:V actually had decent gameplay, but the graphics were down right poor, a bit of an eye sore, and kinda insulting to the Wii's graphical capabilities; makes me wish Ubisoft had delayed the game for about two years).

I don't appreciate it when people pull the whole 'if you have an opinion that isn't overwhelmingly positive towards something, it shouldn't be said!!1' BS.

And it is BS. No offense, but for someone who seems to loves our country and its ideals so much, you sure do pull out the 'don't say that if it doesn't line up with the hivemind!' card a lot. All he was saying is that people should be a little more cautious, considering we haven't actually seen any footage of the game in motion yet - and that is sound advice.

I say reserve judgement until we see a little footage, you know?

That'd be the smart thing to do. Then again, it may not be the keyz thing to do...

Are we getting a little butt hurt? His comments DID reak of negativity. Thats MY opinion. The problem i have (and a lot of other people have) is that people like to be the downers and have nothing good to say, even if its good news. I dont know who you hang around with, but thats the NORM usually. People dont like negative people. You and him have every right to express how you feel. That doesnt mean we have to agree with you and keep quiet. We have seen screen shots and we have heard information about the game. Enough for A LOT of us to be hyped. It seems like your in the minority here bub, not me. If its the "Keyz" thing to do to get hyped about good info on a game, then i stand by that.

"don't take it seriously, yo"

^^you may have neglected to read that part yo

and no, I wasn't getting 'butthurt'. (BTW, I lol at that too - you'd be surprised how often you pull that one out as well.) Amazing how anyone who responds in such a manner is 'butthurt'... except for you and people who agree with you. Isn't it? :D

Anywhos, yeah, they were negative, but he was in the right. We've seen like six screenshots, and they aren't looking particularly great - or at least not as great as Activision is saying they are. All he was saying, and that all I'm saying, is that it's a good idea to reserve judgement for when we've actually got something to judge. Nobody is saying that Modern Warfare wasn't a great game, and the port certainly sounds good, but considering we haven't seen much at all, we can't be sure how Treyarch is going to treat the game when bringing it over to the Wii, especially given their Wii track record.

Know what I'm saying?

Oh, and, dude, simply because something is the 'norm' doesn't mean it's a good thing to say or do. Speaking of, that really isn't the norm for me, because I and the people I hang with do this - instead of immediately looking down on someone for having an opinion that isn't positive, why don't you try attempting to understand why they holds that standpoint in the first place? Understanding someone's reasoning can close an argument a lot quicker than going 'You're a debbie downer!!!1', even if you don't necessarily agree with them.

At any rate, you should really try to quit it with the 'butthurt' and the 'jealousy' kind of comments. If you're gonna try and do something like that, at least let me know you're trollan, or if you're serious, try something that makes a little more sense. It bothers me when people pull the jealousy card because it has never made sense in the way that it's been used around here. Ever. Yeah, ChosenOne is totally jealous. It's not like he owns a Wii and enjoys Wii games, and is just wary of Wii ports as not many of them end up being all that great... or anything like that. :D

one last thing.

"If you dont like the game, stay out of the rooms."

isn't exactly consistent with

"You and him have every right to express how you feel."

If you're going to insult me in your response, do it based on the length of my post, please. I deserve it. I need to learn how to write posts, not books, heh heh

How many times have we seen that in CG trailers and whatnot. Youre right it could mean it looks even worse. I doubt it, but yeah. And when they say that in demos and such, whens the last time youve actually seen a big leap in graphics in a short timespan. Ive never seen a big change from the "not indicative" stage and the final product.

Actually, Ive only seen it in Metroid Prime 3. But thats Retro. Not craptastic Treyarch.

@keyz

It seems like you're intentionally misunderstanding things I say in order to have something to rebut. Like your first remark, for example. We don't praise each other for being negative, we try to understand why someone else thinks the way they do and react as such instead of simply fighting negativity with hostility. Seems like that's something you need to learn yet.

Or your second one. "You werent relevant at all but you pushed your way into the converstion quick enough." It's a forum. If you expect nothing but one on one convos with people, well, that's what the PMs are for. If someone were to interject with a point to make, would I point that out to them in lieu of an actual point to make? nah, not really.

And then there's the whole 'did I hurt your feelings blah blah blah' junk you start spewing every time you open your mouth around here.

Or maybe the WaW comment. Regardless of whether or not it's the most played online Wii game right now, it's still hopelessly gimped compared to every other version of the game in every single regard save for the controls (not to mention the travesty that was COD3). While Treyarch said that that wouldn't be the case for this game, it'd make more sense to wait and see if that turns out to actually be the case (as I've said three times now).

At any rate, if you honestly think I'm the one who looks like 'a retard'... you need to learn how this whole 'arguing' thing works. Also, it'd help if you reevaluated your own post history...

In regards to the direction your post went in... way to go all ad-hominem on me instead of actually going over the points I made and explaining to me how they were wrong. Logic and reason is quite useful, my friend. Keep that in mind.

Seems like yours are posts I'd rather not see. You're going on my foes list, man. I mean no offense by it - I don't look down on you as a person or anything like that. I just think that you and I aren't going to get anything out of any of our arguments, so it's better to eliminate the temptation altogether. If you think I'm stupid, or thoroughly disagree with me, feel free to do the same. It's for the best, it seems.

WhatCD

Im speechless man. Your a lost cause. The whole argument was started between me and Chosenknuckles, not you. You can keep on writing 1000 word posts to seem like your smart, but ima let it go. Do what you want with the foes list. I certainly do not need you to feel like im accomplshed. You made this a way bigger deal than it needed to be. I wonder why so many people argue with you? Maybe YOUR the problem? PLEASE put me on your foes list, so i can use my time in more productive ways.

To Everybody else in the room

How about that Modern Warfare wii guys?

wOw
This may turn out to be great.
Not a graphics whore, but it is a requirement for them to push teh hardware if you want core gamers to appreciate this beyond the fact that the controls for FPS on Wii are already are hook(at least for me it is the main hook) but if they can delive the visuals and ..Wii Speak support wow....and all teh feature set GIMPLESS...then wow...well done Infinity Ward..

But er the proof as they say is in the Wii-ding!(pudding) see what I did there?

;)
